Deceleration Noise?

When I am slowing down in third (going like 60 km/h) down on the clutch just letting the car roll to a stop I get a kind of whining noise. I am guessing this is a deceleration noise, normal right?

Also does anyone else’s brakes smell even if they are not driving hard?

You probably have one of two problems if you have a clutch or brake smell after an easy drive:

1 - You ride the clutch pedal too much or your driving technique involves too much slippage and you are overheating your clutch.

2 - One or more of your calipers is sticking and your pad is never completely releasing causing it to overheat and smell.

One way to check is the next time your car smells after a drive you should open the hood and see if the smell is stronger above the transmission. If it is then your clutch is the cause of the smell. An indicator of a problem with your brakes would be the brakes sticking a bit after the car has been sitting (it takes a bit of effort to get the car moving for the first time after everything has cooled).

are you a new Evo owner?

if yes, please refrain from making a new thread every time you find your car making a noise, the Evo is a noisy car

thank you

hmmm thanks paul,

i will check it out and let u know...

can i just look at the brake pads and see if that is the problem with the brakes?

Also if i have a new stock clutch in the car it would smell a lot more right?

Yes a new clutch is going to smell at first especially with any slipping or riding on it.
