cold turkey is a bad idea, use the gum or try to reduce your cigarette intake by 15% a month till your out, ive known a couple people that have used this successfully. you just have to sure to make sure you dont let yourself smoke more than your "allowed".

I like how people who've never smoked are giving advice on how to quit.

Cold turkey, for the vast majority of smokers, is the most successful way to quit. Anti-smoker groups push nicotine replacement products because the pharmaceutical companies who fund many of these groups sell those things. Their success rates are actually only measured out in months.

Chantix is under investigation for causing suicides. I don't know the validity of this claim though.

yes chantix is under investigtion for causing suicides & bad dreams. but i had to go into urgent care last night (filleted my left index finger. 10 stiches) i was asking my dr about it and she said its actually a type of anti-depressent. thats why you need a perscription. she also mentioned the quit rate is around 80% didnt know over what period of time that was though, but reguardless i know of atleast 6 people who used to to quit afer smoking for 5 years or more.

Yes. I believe all of the drugs they use for quitting smoking, the drug wasn't actually made for quitting smoking, it's merely one of the side effects of the drug.

Yea, i'm in the same boat as you. If you're really dedicated and quitting cold turkey doesn't work, id suggest Chantix. I smoked a pack a day for 9 years, and this stuff really works. Check it out if you need help. I haven't noticed any mood swings or urges to kill people. The weird dream thing is true though. The other night I dreamnt that I was at a frat party and i was making out with Princess Diana... WTF?
