I have a brand new Avid billet aluminum front motor mount for sale for the evo 8/9...I would definitely recommend upgrading this mount on any evo that is being modded!! I think I have a for sale thread up, but pm me if interested as well, thanks!

Okay a need a little help in figuring out exactly how to get to my goal (or what I want it to be at this time). I have a 2003 evo 8.

I am looking at a goal of 300 whp to 350 whp over all. Yes I understand that is a 50whp gap but I would happily take somewhere between the two points.

At this time I have the Injen intake with the UICP and LICP I also have the Walbro 255 and come Monday I will be adding the GReddy Ti-C (off road use only) TBE.

My next items I am looking at getting would be turbo and FMIC. I am looking for a bigger FMIC that will provide gains above the stock but will also fit without having to remove any crash bars or what have you (I have read on here about people cutting things out to get one to fit).

As for turbo again I want something simple (again not looking for massive hp) that will give gains over stock. At first I was thinking going with just an evo IX turbo for the 10.5 hotside but after looking at prices I might as well find a new turbo that will give a bit more but still similar as far as OEM engine bay goes.

Basically I want to be able to pop the hood and not look like I am modded out of my mind. I want simple and clean looking.

After I get this and a few other things such as MBC I will go with a Mellon tune. Any additional help would be appreciated. I have read so much on here that after a time I think I have mod list overload and I want to get it pretty much set in stone.

Thanks

Edit to add: Anything above 350 I would consider bonus. Though I am not sure with boltons only that is possible. At some later date I might decide to start doing engine internals but not at this time.

This is an interesting post that could benefit a lot of new EVO owners. I wish I found it as soon as I bought my EVO.

Raistlin
396.35 whp, UNCORRECTED (455.8 whp & 463.2 wtq @ 1:15 correction factor) with a stock block, stock head gasket, stock head bolts, stock Evo9 head (i.e., no porting or oversize valves).

Major mods: CBRD BBK full bolt-on turbo, E85, Cosworth cams, Supertech dual valvesprings, MIL.SPEC-ported OEM TB, MAP V2 ported OEM intake manifold, PPI-ported OEM exhaust manifold, XS-Power/SS Autochrome eBay FMIC, Precision 1,000cc injectors, single Walbro 255lph pump, Agency Power fuel rail, SpoolinUp COP ignition, tuned by Tobz Performance Tuning.

Please note that my CBRD BBK turbo is pretty much fully spooled @ 4100 rpm, which is pretty significant for both daily driving as well as driving competitions like autocross... feel free to compare my graph to other stock-framed aftermarket turbos that make similar (or even less) power.

- Hsun

P.S. Raistlin, the cheapo XS Power/SS Autochrome intercooler accommodates the OEM bumper beam - I have to run the bumper beam in the autocross class I compete in (SM).

Just bought an '05 after a decade of dreaming. In fact, this is my first post! I'll be returning to this thread often. It's incredibly informative.

my mods are buscher cone filter on stock intake pipe, licp, tbe with testpipe, Head studs fuel pump, and tuned @ 24psi on 91, but what should be my next mod? would injectors be worth getting next?

ported o2 housing and ported exhaust mani

what kind of boost control?

they won't make your car faster but under hood shifter bushing

no need for injectors if you are sticking with 91 octane

my boost control is via aem tru boost, but wondering what other options are out there that will give me 24 psi in 1st and 2nd gear but wont be effected so much by load (my setting B is a duty cycle much lower because if i keep the same duty cycle as in A and floor it in 3rd my boost will dangerously spike).

***forgot to mention I do have an licp and a testpipe along with my tbe

and i have a gsc o2 housing that will be installed very soon but isnt ported (thinkin i should do that now if its worth it), and as far as the exhaust mani, should i port my stock one? i understand the concept of how the o2 housing gives gains but not the the ported exhaust manifold? and giving the engine more fuel wont add up to more hp? thanks for ur input

Your engine is an air pump. Simply put, the faster it can bring air in and out, the more power it can potentially make (assuming there's fuel and proper management to accompany that air).

IMO, removing the stock cat and replacing it with a high-flow cat or test pipe - and following it with a 3" catback exhaust - will give you more power gains that either the ported exhaust manifold or a ported O2 housing. A 3" downpipe would be a good idea as well. You should also consider a LICP - that's an inexpensive mod that's easy to install and will not only help peak power, but will help your turbo spool faster - i.e., more area under the curve.

That being said, I have all of the above on my car - ported MAP V2 OEM IM, PPI ported OEM EM, ported O2, 3" downpipe, 3" testpipe, 3" catback, + Muse Motorsports aluminum LICP and shortened-route UICP.
