Im slowly getting my bolt on mods so i can get tuned and i just had a few quick questions. I was told for a basic tune id need LICP, Fuel Pump, TBE, MBC abd Intake. Im relatively close to that goal just need the pump and mbc but before i go for the tune should i do an 02 housing and exhaust manifold? It wasnt mentioned by my tuner or this thread (02 housing was actually) but it seems like important pieces but what do i know im in the newb thread . Ok to end the book so are the pieces necessary for a bolt on application? And will it affect my tune if i go with the basics and install these after the fact? Thanks

IMO, anything and everything that affects airflow, fuel and spark can affect the tune. A good tuner can extract a tiny bit more power or efficiency/safety out of your car by having the EXACT bolt-on configuration when he's tuning and datalogging.

So, yes - I'd install ALL the parts you're planning on having at any given "stage" of your Evo's development before you go for a tune.

Also, remember that boost level is a critical tuning factor - don't have your car tuned at a different boost level (or even a different boost controller - each one has different response characteristics on any given car) than what you'll be running later.

Depends; if the flywheel isn't damaged or warped, you can just have it resurfaced and you're good to go.

If your OEM flywheel is cooked, or if you just want to improve the acceleration of your car a little while you're in there, I highly recommend a Fidanza aluminum flywheel.

The reduced mass will mean you'll have to rev a little higher/slip it more carefully to get going in first gear, but you'll enjoy noticeably quicker acceleration (esp. in 1st and 2nd gear) due the significant reduction in rotational weight on the crankshaft. Your car will also shift better at high RPM due to the reduced load on your syncros.

OEM Evo flywheel: 13.9 lb
Fidanza aluminum flywheel (which has a steel clutch disc surface of course): 10.15 lb

Great sticky. Gave me an idea of what I want to do to an EVO when I pick one up.
