If I had programing experience I would definitely try to get one of these programs on the Iphone. Its definitely cable, has usb already. If you make the program you can distribute it to any iphone user!

Just some random thoughts. If i could get enough interest. I can pay someone to build the code.

EDIT: Just think, plug phone into port, run live gauges, have KNOCK ALERTS! collect data-logging information. Then come home and review all of your logs.

I might just try to develop it.

Actually that will change pretty quickly, there should be access to bluetooth, and it will only be a matter of time before the hackers figure out workarounds for the SDK, while still using the SDK.

My plan was to try to get in touch with Donour and work with him to get something that works with the Iphone as he's already got working code for the MAC that should port easier than my code.

There are already serial devices that hook up to the IPOD interfaces, its just connecting the two.

FWIW Basic MUT logging of one parameter is a pretty simple affair, all we need to do is get that far, whether its through the SDK or on a jailbroken phone with an unauthorized app. I have recently become interested enough in working on my own IPhone, that when I upgrade to the 16GB version, my current one will be used for development.

 

this is great!!! I'll be one of the first in line. Datalogs would be cool but telling someone you can switch fuel maps in your car with your Iphone would be the best.

Do this!! Us Iphone users would all use it!! Not only for this car but once someone has this done I'm sure others will be able to adapt it for use on their own vehicles. Whoever does this should charge, and make crazy loot.
