Shooting flames!!

I have a stock 06 Evo IX with a custom bent 2.3/4 catback. Im shooting a blue flame out the back of it every now and again, wether im just being easy or giving it all it still shoots. I know blue is usually Nitrous or fuel but i dont see how it is leaking?? Is it because these cars run so rich from factory? Can i get some opinions on this for a little help plz?

They run extremely rich from the factory, but they still normally only shoot flames if your running a VTA BOV.

I would suggest a tune. You are right, it's shooting flames because it is running excessively rich. Get a flash/tune from a well known vendor and that will take care of your problems.

Like others have said, the flame is a result of your relatively rich a/f ratios. You should get a tune as soon as possible.

Nice... seeing the real GT racing cars shoot flames I thought you can only shoot flames if your car has huge bhp but I guess I was wrong. It's nice to have it but at the same token, it's dangerous for the car too...

All good info above!

What does your mod list include? There might be something in there that is causing the vehicle to run UNNECESSARILY pig rich, such as the mentioned VTA BOV.

Stock!? & shooting flames?... never heard of that.... Is it back firing too? Does it do it when it's cold or warm outside. Sounds like a bad MAF.

Its a stock car other than the custom 2 3/4 catback(No Mods & Stock Tune). It does it everynow and again no matter the weather but i dont drive in the rain so yea, it does not backfire jut spits a flame everynow and again so i was thinking it was just to rich so get a tune. But i want to wait because im about to mod for 320-350whp...

flames happen, probably almost all catless evos will do it if they are running hot. It only happens on my car when i've been pushing it for a little while.

Just get a tune and it will happen less.
