What should I ask for this 500HP race motor?
What should I ask for this 500HP race motor?
Hi all. I just wanted to ask the forum as to what I should be asking/expecting for my race motor and tranny that I will be pulling out of my race car. Should I sell the motor and tranny together or separately? Here are the specs:
Race spec Toda stroker motor (Tuned by TechnoSquare, Torrance, Ca)
2.3l Toda Stroker kit
Tomei Cams 280 degrees intake and exhaust
Tomei valve springs and retainers
Toda Cam gears
Toda Cam belt
Turbonetics divorced exhaust manifold
HKS 3037 ball bearing turbo
Denzo 1000cc injectors
Port and polished heads
RMR custom 3.5" downpipe, O2 dump pipe, test pipe, and catback system
K&N custom air intake
Apexi Power FC stand alone ECU
Apexi FC commander/controller
Apexi AVCR boost controller
I had just had the car dyno'ed on Speed Element's (Fremont, Ca) Dyno Dynamics yesterday and have all the dyno reading and paper work to go with the motor. The power to the wheels was 431.9WHP. According to the dyno tech and the shop, the Dyno Dynamics numbers are about 15% lower than all other dynoes like the Dynojet. He said that on a Dynojet dyno, this read at approx 500WHP. This is all on California 91 pump gas. With a map change and race fuel, he expects this to put out roughly 600WHP on a Dynojet.
The tranny is a 5spd tranny with upgraded KASS/Slipstream LSD and gears (one of a kind)
The tranny has straight-cut first gears and the whole tranny has been blueprinted.
Upgrade final gear diff.

I am selling the motor and tranny because I am putting the car back to stock.
The motor and tranny were rebuild last year and have about 2k miles on them. About 100 miles of that 2k were race. The rest of the miles are regular street and highway driving. They have not been abused or flogged since rebuild. It still runs strong as shown in the dyno chart.
Straight-cut gears are much stronger (can handle more power) and engage more firmly with no slip as opposed to the stock helical-cut gears. The reverse gear in a stock tranny is straight-cut, whence the "whine" when you are in reverse. This is true for this race tranny .

I am not listing here as a for sale. I am just asking opionions on what I should ask/can get for this motor and tranny. I will be listing this locally on Craigslist becuase I don't think many of the members here would want to pay to have this motor crated and shipped to them. Again, I am not selling this under this forum section.
I really don't mind it at all. It is their right and duty to monitor forums for post that are not correct. I can see how this post could be construed as a "selling post". I just put this post up to find out what others think and so I don't ending listing the motor for way too much, or way too little.
