Time to bring this thread back from the dead of 2008. I wish I had some great news to report to everyone but last week was the worst for 2009. Not only did my home computer crash (thank God I created this thread or I would have lost all of my Evo pictures) but my Evo went down. To make a long story my intake cam angle sensor died, which some how made my oil pump fail, which then blew out a main bearing around my crankshaft. All in one trip to Quiznos on roughly 8,000 miles on the block.
My evo is now at its second home/garage at CBRD. I think I need to change this thread to the "Engine build by Mick and CBRD"
Chad and I have been dicussing which direction to take the build in and I am leaning towards a 2.3 built monster. I have not ironed out the details but I will keep this thread updated as I/we go.
On the lighter side I landed two great sponsors over the holiday season. I recieved sponsors from Rexpeed and Stoptech. The big brake kit was suppose to go on this month but will be pushed back to early Spring because of the future engine work from CBRD. I order a few more cf parts from Rexpeed and will be writing a detailed install in the next few weeks.
Hopefully 2009 will get better as my luck hasn't kicked in yet.

Sorry to hear about your loss! The 2.3L stroker would be awesome! Would you plan on upgrading the 50 trim? or just have the fastest spooling evo in the world
If there is anything we can do let me know!
Keep us posted man! Good Luck!
Michael

to clarify a little,
we have never seen this before... destroyed main bearings, compression was solid..... etc... bad intake cam sensor... BUT, im thinking metal from the bearings could have clogged up the mivec solenoid on the head that toys with the oil channels/pressure.
regardless, something new, we have never seen.. (we have never really had an evo motor go).... so it looks like an oiling issue (and David B has see this before)
so we are working on a plan for mick to get a 2.3 from BR and built head.... and the turbo will stay the same for now...
the turbo is a 330R, not a 50 trim.... 30R-ish compressor.

I don't plan on upgrading and having the fastest spooling evo in the world sure beats any piece of plastic I've ever received
Thanks for offering your help and I will keep you posted.

Can't wait to go over the plan - Let me know once you have the plan finalized and we can go from there.
