Shoot Out Between Vishnu,buschur,rmr,hks

I THINK THAT THE TOP TUNERS OF THE EVO SHOULD HAVE A CONTEST.
BETWEEN THEM ONLY USE THEIR EXHAUST, INTAKE AND CHOICE OF FUEL CONTROLLER.
TO SEE WHO COMES OUT ON TOP!!!!

I am game. I have a better idea though. Let's do it the right way. Bring to the table the package that you offer over the counter to the dyno and on the car. When it is all over post the numbers, the products and the money it costs retail.

We have been concentrating on making a package that is LONG LASTING, produces unmatched horsepower and is affordable.

Who is supplying the dyno?

Do it. I bet Vishnu and RMR would be game, don't know about WORKS though Obviously David is ready! David Bushur that is. I'll volunteer my stock Evo if I get a very good deal on a stage setup of my choice when its all said and done.

The subaru guys are going to have a super tuner shoot out in about 6 months or so from now. Down at buttonwillow race way. Granted i dont know what dyno facilities they have there but i do know this.

SRT4 and EVO's are welcome in my book.

When i get more info i will post it on here for you guys. I know that the vishnu camp will most likely be reprsenting with more then a few wrx entries.

My vote would go to HKS. I own RMR, but just would stick with HKS. I would love to see this.

Looking forward to the big shootout next year. Rumor has it that EVOs will be allowed to enter as well as WRXs which means that we'll probably have a couple of entries. As I understand it, the shootout will consist of drag racing, road course among other things. IIRC, the owners of each respective shop will have to do the driving duties which might bode poorly for us in the drag race competition My money is on Rhys for the road course competition. Waitasec... did I just bet against myself?

cheers,
shiv

This sounds like a good competition... And EVOINIT is right! Sales would probably skyrocket especially if a magazine covers the contest!!

I can supply a Road Dyno! Hp/torque only (no A/F onit). It appears to be very consistent from run to run and from day to day.

Speedlimit and I already proved that the Rallyart dropin airfilter gives an extra 2hp (or was it 4hp, speelimit?). We tested it on both cars.

Speedlimit will be getting the Xede soon, so we will test that as well on both our cars. Same unit, same day, 2 different cars on the same day.

If there are people with other systems in our area, I'm sure we can hook up to do a few before and after runs.

I am not a tuner, just a customer. I don't have a real dyno, but the testing tool that I have, appears to work very well. We don't have sponsorships from any tuners, nor are we associated with any tuner. So, we simply do not have any bias towards one or the other. We have no reasons to favor one or the other. Anyone is welcome to supervise the testing if they wish.

So, there is a way we can compare things today, not the ultimate setup, but it is a start. Just need the parts to test and unfortunately I am too poor to buy any of them.

If someone wants to lend us some parts to test, we will return them and will write up a complete review on them (assuming the part can be installed and taken off without any residual damage to the car (ie, splising of wires, drilling holes, etc.).

The owners have to drive?? What kind of comparison is that going to show??? Too many variables in drivers, it won't prove much. Wouldn't make me buy one guys products over another, especially from any road course times. At least 1/4 mile, you can't screw up MPH too bad and dyno won't lie between cars on the same day. Otherwise, it would be a "fun" competition.

Your comments indicate that you have absolutley no idea what a Road Dyno is and your comments are 100% incorrect. I suggest you learn about it first before you make unknowledable comments like above.

Here is a start if you are truly interested in learning a bout it:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...dent+road+dyno
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...dent+road+dyno

To answer your questions:

1. Yes anyone can drive, it does not matter who. The road dyno has nothing to do with driver skill. If you can roll at 2000rpm and hold the throttle till red line in a gear (no shifting, not starts, no turning), then you can operate a road dyno.
2. It is going to show a proper hp/tq graph. See examples in the above links.
3. The only variables is the weather and car specific data
4. IT WOULD PROVE A LOT.
5. Road Dyno does not produce any times.

1- why would anyone want to use a road dyno over a real dyno for something like this.
2- i think he was reffering to using ONE driver for the track portion that EVOINIT suggested. he never even mentioned dyno when asking about the owners driving. read the rest of his post, he talks about road courses and 1/4 mile tracks.

I never said you should use it over a regular Dyno. I made a suggestion that I can let people use the tool that I have if they want to test stuff NOW. It is an a cheap alternative if you don't want to wait for a real dyno day or pay money for a bunch of dyno runs. The Road Dyno is not a substitute to a real dyno. It is simply another comparison tool that can be used. I really don't care if people use the Road Dyno or not. I just threw it out as an option for you all. I know it works perfectly, repeatedly and consistently enough to pick up a difference made by a drop in air filter. I'm sure it will be good enough to compare other mods as well.

Also, please read the links I posted above. The advantages and disadvantages of Road Dyno vs stationary Dyno are clearly presented.

The way I understood it is that he thought that with the Road Dyno, you have to do 1/4 mile drags with it. Anyway, does not matter. The info is out there if you want to learn how it works and the immediate answers have been answered.
