I have 35 grand.
i agree with him.... however i would take the amount you want to spend on an evo and building it to one of the fastest reliable DD seen and put the money in a bank that allows you to borrow against it at .9 or 1.9% (paying interest to your account thus increasing the money you put in) and make a reasonable monthly payment. 
Then i would invest a good chunk of money wisely.

1slowevo is right. I have been to a financial advisor.. and he says by the time i am out of school (college/medschool) it will be well over 1,000,000. Seriously look into it man. Once you hit 1 mil you're set. Put 100k off each in diff. banks. Rake in 5% per year from savings... 50k a year sitting on your *** doing nothing.. plus if you have a job...
I do the math and i am only coming up with 20k a year... what am i missing?
Well it's your money, so spend it however you please. As other have said, however, a much smarter thing to do would be to get some solid financial advice from a professional. With $400,000, you can have some tremendous leverage if you play your cards right. You'd be amazed just how easy it is to make money with that kind of investment. Oh, and skip mutual funds.

"EDITED" to add a couple notes here. You have a stock block car, A head with no port work, no Stand Alone EMS Of course your car didnt cost 25k. Your car is way sick and a bad *** EVO for sure but is in no way compareable to the said 500 - 600 (now) HP true pump gas Buschur has built as of late EVOS with no knock suppresive Allky, Meth, or Water Injection

With Allky or not? Pump gas and Pump+Allky is nowhere near the same thing.

Yes you might make out ok in the long run, but historically if invested properly you will make approx. 90% more return than the housing market.
plus there is always the fact of looking at taxes and what not.
you keep the $$ invested and have the dividends and any interest pay the mortgage on the house. Then write off the interest on the house
