When I bought my IX SE it was pretty much everything I wanted, nothing I didn't.

Better than MR because:
- lightweight aluminum roof
- no 6 speed (known to overheat when driven hard on track
- $3,000 less

Better than IX because:
- lightweight wheels
- front lip

Better than IX SSL because:
- Alcantara seats w/Red stitching > Leather
- I'd rather hear my exhaust than my stereo (the stock one isn't bad and has been good enough for me)

Better than RS because:
- power windows and door locks (some amenities I just couldn't live without)

The only thing I miss from my Eclipse is not having a sunroof but to me the weight savings (especially so high above the ground) offsets this and makes it worth it. These were just my reasons for picking the model I did, everyone will have slightly different opinions based on their goals for the car. I wanted a fast car that I could sit comfortably in every day in New York rush hour and also take to the track and auto-x. I think the bottom line is no matter what, if you enjoy driving, you can't go wrong with an Evo!

Hector just get an IX with any package and quit kidding yourself, you'll love the MIVEC...!

the IX's dont have the crappy cloth fabric compaired to the VIII's, but I think you"ll find an IX SSL that wasnt ragged on to much.

I wanted a white IX. Of that much I was certain. That eliminated the SE, unfortunately. I was planning on getting a base IX but managed to find my MR with only 3,000 miles for the same price as a new IX (I still consider it fate ). One big plus for me was HIDs. I knew I wanted them, but a new MR was way out of my price range. The 6-speed is also smooth as butter/better for highway cruising, and with AMS's new 2.3RR/GT35R build showing that it can handle 500 wheel, I'm not as scared as I once was of it taking a dump.

That said, there's something about the purity of the RS that makes me want it. Maybe because the X has gone so soft in comparison, I feel like maybe I should have gotten the most hardcore of the last pre-X generation. I'm very happy with my decision every time I drive through a neighborhood that compels me to lock all my doors/windows, though .

Assuming the 6-speed survives everything I intend to do with the car, IX MR FTMFW .
