I take as best care of my Evo as possible for the purpose of having it run well and stay nice, especialy for DRIVING, but I am not going to make too many decisions about it based on its resale value. That is a waste of a car and money. I didnt get it to have it sit around as a "valuable investment." That's what my IRA accounts are for lol.

If it has things that aren't perfect I'd rather turn it into a full blown race car than try to entertain a Barrett-Jackson pipe dream, which is lame anyway

The Evo has a certain aura around it that makes it desirable. Yes, the car stands on its own with an excellent turbo charged engine, super sharp handling and good looks. But if you look beyond that people drive Evos in video games, read about them in magazines and on the internet. As young car enthusiasts grow up and ready to drive the market gets tighter and no more VIIIs and IXs are being built. Simple supply and demand takes over and prices go up. The downside to this for someone like me is that I just love driving this car and now with every mile being racked up makes me think about resale someday. But then I think if I sell it then what would I drive that gives this level of bang for the buck? So I keep driving it and enjoying it.

Evo will more than likely be the same way especially because they are a better car. The platform is proven to be a 500hp capable all weather sexy as machine. The value isn't going dive bomb any time soon. All reasonably priced true performance cars hold their value.... RX7, 240, 300ZX, turbo eclipse/talon, NSX, bla bla bla. No worries here.

Lastly I'm not sure why people claim the evo is an expensive performance car. If I drive it gently I see 28-29mpg which is just as good as most econo cars. I would rather have 5mpg less and be in an EVO.
do your 3rd, 4th cylinders shut down to get that kind of mileage??! j/k...best I ever got was 23. more power to you dude!

Any ideas on what price I should list my 14k mile IX SE?

Interesting thread. Could the CT9As in the USA one day be like the Supra TT and get crazy resale values even ten years from now? We can dream.

First of all, why would you sell it? If you must or have to and you are selling PP, start somewhere close to the MR.

There are only two monetary values I'm interested in:

1. The amount I owe on my car note
2. What my insurance company values my car at

As long as the first is less than the second (which it is), I'm happy.

The prices are going up on the 8 and 9 because they are much better cars than the 10

Before I bought my evo, I had an Rx8 - I bought it new without really doing the investigation, when I should have bought a 3rd generation rx7. When I tried to sell my brand new mint condition rx8 with only 10K on it I ended up pretty much an even swap for a 95 Rx7 with 30-50K on it.

So instead I bought my evo.

I'm still going to get an Rx7, but I want the 3 rotor engine.

I'm going to keep the evo though.

yeah I used to have a Z and the resale value was terrible but the Evo seems to hold its value very well. I paid $28,900 for a mint condition MR with 22k and with ~$7000 worth of light mods. I guess I just lucked out since they were the mode I wanted anyways.
