lol... this thread is funny. Ironic that the owner owns an 05 Evo VIII is it not? Planning on selling soon? An evo is no "legendary" car... I love m Evo to death, but it will never go up in value sadly unless you find some rich teenager with rich parents... oh wait, that is what the dealers are doing...

Dealers don't want to give you anything for used Evo's though. Three local Honda dealers offered me $23,500 at most for my bone stock 06 MR with 26K.

Heh, heh, who would want one of the new ones?

They can keep the X. My MR has just cracked 5K, and I'm not planning on selling it, but I might put in an Access Port and turbo-back in a year or two. The new EVOs clearly suckkk and I'm thrilled I got one of the last REAL EVOs.
If I wanted to sell it, offers would be taken starting at 35K.

But, I'm keeping it.

I was at Carmax almost 2 weeks ago and they had sold a very used VIII for $25995. I would rate that car "BA". They made a bundle! Yesterday the salesman called me and ask me where was I at for the Lexus? Also asked me to get my IX appraised. I decided to keep my Evo, cause it just a very fun car to drive. Plus I would have lost all the Sale Taxes for my trade in and for the new Evo, plus depreciations. It just NOT worth it.
As you all know, Salesman are there to get the most money from your trade in and the selling of the car. The more they could cheat you the more they take home. They look at it as money for their family. They work in teams. The place it set up to intimidate you, and make you feel they are helping you. From negotiation to contract to financing, they have experiences on every dealing and could tell what will be in the next step (they are one-step ahead of you). My suggestion is to sell your own car and buy from Costco for new car, or pay in cash only for a used car at Carmax. Sorry about getting off the topic.

according to that my car is only worth 14k..... Funny thing is that the biggest dealership in my town offered to buy it outright for 17.5 my friend offered me 19k but i enjoy my car to much to sell it. Think about it there were 19,363 8's and 9's imported into the US 7000 ish were 9's the rest 8's. How many have been totaled already?.... UMM alot per capita, now when the price of an evo drops down and a high school kid can afford one guess what.... There will be even more totaled.... If the government goes through with this MPG law, You wont see many futuristic High horsepower cars... How many kids now know what an EVO is... Alot, video games made the EVO a very popular car with kids ages 10plus, what happends down the road when those kids have a great job and some cash in the bank, they will want the dream car they always wanted in the video games, at this time 10k evos will be totaled and it will be worth as much as i paid for it. Already we are seeing that the 8 and 9 are holding there value in the states by dealerships around the country giving some of us the oppertunity to trade out Low mileage 9's in STRAIGHT UP for a brand new X.... I believe the value will hold quite well.....

I believe that they would still depreciate , but at a slower rate than other cars. I was checking out the new GT500s when they first came out , they were selling them at $60k easy , and I have never even paid sticker on a new car so markup is a no go for me
A local dealer calls me a year months later telling me that he has 2 on the lot and would sell them at 2k over sticker. I told him I am still not interested.

I went private party and just got my 05 SSL EVO VIII with 34k miles for $22k. It has a few scratches, but the interior is pristine and the engine is in great condition (and is stock so has warranty). Pick up is Tuesday, whoo!

Good thing, too, considering the next closest Evo I had to look at was 5 hours away.

I can't even sell my Evo VIII MR w/ 17k miles for $23.5.

The economy blows right now.
