Use of a wideband
Use of a wideband
Hey all. I have been hearing stuff about widebands. I was just wondering.. what is the use for them besides reading data..if you are getting a tune from 4ws or someone like that, is a wideband necessary, or is it just helpful??
Part of the tuning process is improving the air:fuel mix. Too much fuel (rich) or too little fuel (lean) and the car will be slower and possibly in danger of damage.
For a perfect tune, a wideband kit can be used to measure exact air:fuel ratio in the exhaust stream. There's also more info on the "Help & How-To" section of our site.
It's not 100% necessary, but it is strongly recommended.
Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Depending on how your car is tuned, the person tuning your car should already have one; I'll be getting one, just as a warning device tool, to tell me if anything is up with the air/fuel ratio, since i will stay with the use of my stock ecu; because of the constant weather changes here in the Maryland, DC, Virgina area (temperature, barometric, humidity, etc)
Does anyone have any opinions on the AEM UEGO Controller?? I have heard some complaints that it doesn't read any richer than 11;1..would this be a problem?? if so what wideband would you suggest??

I've got the uego and it's worked good so far. Mine did read richer than 11 before I got my tune.
