AMS Trip

With the two years I've driven my IX MR stock and a full season of auto-cross, I felt like it was time to take it to the next level. A trip to AMS provided the following:

Cone Air Filter/MAF Sensor
Turbo Back Exhaust with High Flow Cat
Greddy Profec Boost Controller
Front Mount Intercooler
Lower I/C Piping
AMS Custom Flash

Here's the numbers:

Stock Tune HP: 282.04
Stock Tune TQ: 242.09

New Tune HP: 325.29
New Tune TQ: 314.25

Gained HP: 43.25
Gained TQ: 72.16!!!!!!!!!!

Rev limiter: 7800 RPM
2 Step Launch Control: 5800 RPM
A/F: 11.3:1
Peak Boost: 1.56 Bar (22.6 PSI)
Boost Taper: ~18 PSI

Below is the Dyno.

One thing i found interesting is how the new Torque curve steadily drops after 5,000 RPMS (vs. the smaller drop of the stock TQ). Is this normal that it will drop off this much?

ALSO, My AFR is 11.3:1. I know that I could lean this out to gain some more HP, but how much would I really expect to see? And how much could I lean it out and still be safe? Keep in mind that I Auto-X this car frequently and don't was to run too lean.

I do want to thank AMS for the quality of their parts and the professionalism they gave me. Also, thanks Chris for the tune!

The dyno must read REALLY high. The highest I have seen is 255, mostly around 251. And this is on a dynojet.

I'm wondering if he meant factory flash with his mods made 282...

The dates of both runs are the same and within 30 minutes of each other...

As I said before I'm pretty sure he's relating to the stock tune w/ mods versus custom tune w/mods. 250WHP seems about right for a stock evo on a DynoJet.

thanks for the compliments guys. And yeah, the car feels great! It pulls as consistent as stock, but continues to pull hard all the way to redline. There is no longer the "running out of breath" that used to be with the stock parts.

And yeah, I meant what Chuck was saying. It's the Stock Tune WITH the parts VS. the Custom Tune WITH the parts.

I'm thinking I could probably lean it out a little more, but I don't want to compromise the safety of the engine. I'll probably just be leaving it the way it is for now.

All dynos are like that. It's the difference in clicking different options to smooth the graph out to make it more appealing to the eye. There isn't much of a need to do it if everything is right anyhow. His graph looks fine.

you should have thrown in a mbc and maybe a walbro pump, but you got very good numbers anyways! almost the same #'s as me with just about the same mods. does the pump help at all with these power levers??
