Should I be concerned?

I found a TB IX about an hour and a half away from me with some help of someone from these forums. When I looked into it all from a very far distance looks good.

1 Owner
Clean Carfax
Mostly Stock (from what i can tell)

But it has custom rims, and an aftermarket intake system from what the dealer is posting. Should I be concerned that someone heavily modded this car then returned it to Bone Stock -intake when he traded it in.

Just curious if this is a sign to watch out for as it does have 20,000 miles on it just curious what someone would also think of the car see link below:

P.S. the price seems exceptional expecially coming from a dealer. If all goes well I should be seeing this car early next week

Get maintenance records on it, and have a compression test done.

If the oil and driveline fluid changes are all accounted for (with OEM fluid), then you've probably got a good candidate.

And do contact the previous owner. If they were 18, run.

That was what I was thinking is to call and see if the dealership would give me the record of the previous owner and hopefully he is nice enough to fill me in on the details of the cars history.

I was asking some of the same questions before buying my IX, check fluid levels, and general condition of everything, since your buying it from a dealer you hold all the cards and play them the way YOU need them. Look at the bolt heads to see if they have been taken off and on, this is a good indicator if it has been put back to stock. As far as the miles, if all maintenace has been accomplished it should be fine, ask to see the maintenace records, I just bought my 06 IX with 45,xxx and I love every minute of it, best decision I ever made. GL.

thanks again.

Just called as expected they can not give out previous owner information just due to the privacy laws. So I might suggest when i go see the car that they call the previous owner (since they have the information) from the dealership and just verify its past modification records instead of giving out the info publically.

hopefully all works out I was just seeing what everyone else here thinks.

Thanks for the information.

Unlikely it has been heavily modified, especially with a typhoon intake

What I'm wondering is wtf that hose coming of the valve cover breather is for. Is it going to a catch can?

Be prepared for those painted stock wheels to flake paint.

yeah, most people really don't give a **** though, and thats if the dealer even *tries* to give the guy a ring, let alone gets a hold of him. It's not really helping them to do so either, the best he can say is "ya its good" and the worst he can say is "I actually pieced this car together at a chop shop with bubble gum". Them getting in contact with him doesn't actually help their situation at all.

Trust me, people are lazy and they don't give a ****.

Just said people are so quick to screw someone for their own benefit, not thinking how the other person is gonna make out because of it.

Didn't you already post a thread about you trying to find a car? Wasn't this one of the cars someone said they found for you in a quick search? Wasn't it on Ebay or something?
If you buy it, get rid of that intake asap.

Good Luck

For realities sack lets just come to terms with that fact that buying a used car, especially a used turbo car, is a gamble for the most part.
