some positive input
I have 2,356Miles on my car and NO Clutch or Tranny issues.. I think that there are plenty of people out there that are in the same boat...
I do drive my car hard Often so its not like im babying the hell out of it to avoid problems..
Just remeber alot of car problems do stem from driver Error (not all the time) but to me most of the problems that people have lead me to think some of them are due to driver error.... I am going to take out the clutch restrictor in my evo because i do feel that this is a part of some people's problems with the mitsu clutch
Well enough ramballing I hope you enjoy the evo as much as I do...
BTW im In NC

Seems like its split, some people are having problems and others are not. Search around and you will find all kinds of debates about it.
Personally, I think alot of the problems have to do with the drivers(flame suite on) ,but I'm sure some of the problems are from the factory.
I definitly don't baby my car and have not had any transmission issues in 6k miles. Maybe a slight grind going into second if I'm not paying attention and try to shift before the clutch is all the way in.
All in all, I would'nt let any transmission worries keep you from getting an EVO. Compared to the 1st generation DSM's I would say reliability has come a long way.

If someone posts a thread that they have a problem and ask if anyone else does most people who have the problem are going to post, i know i really dont post in a thread all the time if i dont share the problemm (so its probably people like me that help make the problems seem like more than they are)
its an 8th generation car. i think they would have resolved most issues by now. You always hear bad things about the car and never the good. Jutst see how many clutch problems there are and compare it to the amount sold. I also think many other problems are due to modding it out.

I'll join the flame suite crowd. I've got over 9k on mine and it's survived five road-coarce track days. I drive it; but I've owned enough performance cars to know the difference between hard driving and abuse.
I'd also like to add that I do believe that a number of new Evos are having real problems. Some people here are describing real problems; but I'm niot sure we're seeing any more problem cars that we'd see from another model as a percentage.

I got My Apex Silver EVO Oddly enough the day before the 2f2f movie cam out(I guess About 2 moths ago now)... all my freinds kid me that thats why i got it... when I have relley wanted an EVO or a Skyline Since i first started playing Gran Turismo lol..
I Got my Evo With a spolier no sunroof, gauges, pedals, shift knob, gauge cluster for 30,520 W/taxe tag title Gap coverage. Oh not to mention the first year of oil changes and tire rotations thrown in by the dealer because i have bought 3 cars from them...

After 8300 miles, I've yet to experience any adverse issues whatsover. The car responds very well to mods and the tranny shifts like butter over time. I used to miss second allot but that problem has subsided ... either I'm a better driver now or the tranny takes a few thousand to fully break in. At any rate, no worries at all man .... just about every DSM guru/expert I know claims that the evo is a different beast compared to earlier DSM's, and the internals a bit more beeffy as well.
