Just to get an idea..

Please vote.

and explain why you decided to go after market, or why you like the stock ECU..

but im on the stock ecu...no reason other than im still on the stock turbo and dont feel like i need to dump all the money on an aftermarket ecu yet.
You'll actually find alot of people who are making big numbers who actually still run stock ecu's.

if you are only doing minorr then no point in a ecu..
if its something to future proof then might aswell get the results with aftermarket.

I have very little mods. Nothing the stock ECU can't handle. So why spend the money?

are you all talking about something like this? http://www.gripmotorsports.com/pi~pn...ancer-619.html

if you can have the stock one tuned or buy software to tune it yourself... why worry about buying aftermarket? This is a legit question because I don't know much about it lol.

someone else on here will prob explain it in more detail...as i dont know everything about it.

But basically...YES, you can tune the stock ecu, but only to a certain extent. The aftermarket ecu's (as the AEM EMS you posted) will allow you to further tune passed what a stock ecu is capable of and will allow you to save different maps on it. It also has tons of other features which will allow you to have more control in tuning your specific car.

Stock ecu until I want to make enough power to take her off of the streets. There are several 500 whp stock ecu cars out there--plenty of power for the street (matter of opinion lol!)

There's no reason to use anything but the stock ECU on a street car. If you build a race car, have the best of the best suspension, chassis, motor internals/externals, spare sets of wheels, and a crew to maintian it. Go get a Motec engine management system, and hire a data-logging engineer to set it up and run it. You can squeek a few more ponies out of this type of system all throughout the power band, as they allow more precise control. Trick is learning to use it to it's fullest capability
