Weird issue with ignition hole.

Okay so I know the title sounds a little weird but here is my issue. About 6 weeks ago my starter got stuck. I would but the key into the ignition but it wouldn't turn no matter how hard I forced it. I had to get a pair of needle nose pliers grab onto the key and tug. It finally moved and I could start the car. ( it bent the key a little). Then it is fine for about 3 weeks and it did it again so I fixed it the same way. Now 3 weeks later it happend today. Fixed it the same way my key is still kind of bent. Any ideas of what this could be? I don't want to break my starter but I had to do it to get to work.

How long have you had the Evo? This is common on some other cars... it could be pocket lint... When you have your key in your pocket and pull it out it may have pocket lint on the key. After a while it jams every thing up. Try spraying a small amount of WD40 on the key and turn the key several times. If not pull it all out and clean it up.

I had that happen to me on a Honda Civic. Your key is worn out at the grooves and you need a new one made. If the key is the only one you have, than will you need to have the car re-programed at the dealer. Otherwise, do a search on reprograming keys for an Evo 8.

I have two keys and I have the issue with both so I'm going to try wd40 if that dosen't work then I'm just going to pull it all out. Would compressed air do anything?

when this happens its usually the lock cylinder. Hopefully in your case its not, but as a tech, its usually the lock cylinder

As other have said, it seems it could be a ignition tumbler problem.
