JDM Headlights...

I have a question, I need to replace both my headlight housings becuase of a low impact collision, 5 MPH, and i think its cheaper to go with the JDM housings and switch over my bulbs scince its easier. I have a 06 MR with the HID kits.
Here are my questions...
The adjusting motor wont work with the JDM"S? Correct?
How hard is it to switch the ballasts and bulbs over to the new JDM Housings.
Has anyone had issues with this Swap?
ANyone know the best place to buy them , Vivid racing offers that foglight connector harness.

Thanks , Wes

I believe the headlight leveling will work with the jdm lights. Should be a direct swap and all you need is the harness for your fogs to work.

IIRC the beam pattern is totally wacky (for RHD driving) so that will also need to be modified. that's all that's kept me from getting them, i just don't want to deal with it.

someone else care to chime in on that?

Yes, you can use the leveling motors... but they ONLY adjust side to side.. not up and down like the stock lights do..

If you want to be able to adjust up and down and not have the cut off .. then switch your USDM projectors into your JDM lights..

Switching the bulbs and ballasts are very easy...

I bought the jdm evo 8 mr black housing headlights and it was direct swap except for the fog light adapter that you need to buy. The adjuster to move the lights up and down works for me. Once the headlights are taken off, it's pretty simple to swith everything over. The beam is crooked, but it doesn't bother me enough since I drive in the city and the roads are pretty lit up from street lights anyways.

My headlights still tilt and the RHD "out of whack" beam pattern is not near as bad as I thought itd be after reading peoples' posts on here. Get them!

Cars are designed so the headlights are slightly aimed away from oncoming traffic. JDM cars are Right Hand Drive so the beam will be aimed slightly to the left so it will be opposite from the US spec cars which will have the beam aimed slightly to the right.

I actually find the JDM beam pattern better for where I live. It actaully helps light up areas I could not see as well before at night due to the lack of streetlights where I live. Like several have stated above swapping over your bulbs and ballasts are very easy. Just be careful when you swap over the bulbs. Don't touch the lens on the HID bulbs because you may end up ruining your bulbs.

Definitely wear gloves while swapping out everything! Be gentle and take great care as JDMCT9MR mentioned! If you need a set, we have them posted up for sale in the Vendor section

People always moan about the light cutoff being incorrect on the RHD region stuff but really its not that bad especially when you do a lot of city driving.
