The NADA dealer value of MR is $22K with average mileage (it seems about right for what I seen other forum members paying). Personally I am not seeing much of a difference in pricing between dealer and private party sales for Evo's.

My guess is those cars advertised for 24-26 are selling for closer to $23K. What is the premium for 4K miles Evo? I would probably pay $25ish, but that is just my opinion.

Yea, wow I don't know that I have seen too many with that low miles on it. What did you do drive it home from the dealer, race it a couple times & store it.......You will probably get top dolla for that one.

That is crazy low mileage. Is there a way to manipulate the mileage through flashing software???

Dealerships will try to low ball you, but if you can negotiate a little it can be worth it for the sales tax savings. but, different situations will have differing circumstances.

OK, I might be moving out of Washington state (near Seattle) and have been thinking of selling my Evo before the move.

Here are the stats:

2005 Evo VIII (GSR)
Silver
29k miles (always adult driven, really!)
100% stock (no mods)
No sunroof
No HID
OEM stereo
Evo wing
Lives in a garage when not being driven (it's pampered)
Looks, runs, and drives very nice
Regularly maintained at local Mitsubishi dealer
Clean title

The car was involved in a low-speed front end collision in June (stop and go traffic) and the hood and front bumper cover were replaced. Also, the pickup truck's trailer hitch managed to hit the radiator, condenser, and intercooler and they were all replaced with new parts. Front fenders, lights, etc. were fine. The car was professionally repaired and looks great. It's a really nice car. I'd put it at 9.5/10.

I really love this car but I could use the money for a house down payment. Plus, it's a hassle moving two vehicles.

So, that being said, what do you think my car is worth? I might put it up for sale soon and would like some feedback regarding what I should expect to get for it.

Most deffinitley try to always sell/buy from an individual. Dealers will usually not give you a very good deal on a trade in so they can make money when selling it.

NADA puts dealer book value at ~18600 for GSR, $1100 SSL, and $2175 for mileage. Dealers tend to offer 3-4K less than what they think they can sell it for. The don't give as much for low mielage or options ar well. You would be doing pretty well to get 16 or 17K for a trade.

This is just my opionion. IX's tend sell privately for dealer book value, unfortunately for you from what I have seen 05 aren't selling for that price. It's hard to tell give conditon and each car being different, but I don't think SSL are selling for an extra $1100 either, maybe a $500 premium. I think the desirability of the IX is going to hurt the value of your low mileage car as well, when I say this I mean the low end IX pricing is going to be the ceiling of the high end of 05's. I just don't think many people will pay 21K for low mileage 05 when they can buy a 40K mile IX for the same price. You can try asking 22K for it, but I think you might find someone at $19-20K.

When you trade in a car the trade in amount subtract what you owe for the new car. You only pay taxes on the amount you pay. Minus title and doc. SO...

New car 20K
trade in 12K

If you just buy the car you will have to pay taxes on the 20K

If you trade in a car you only pay taxes on 8K

Some savings.
