They should have went back to the basics (stuffing their most potent engine into the smallest car they have)

The X should have been Mitsubishi i + 4B11T and kept the name, since current Evo X really isn't even a Lancer anymore anyways (it is Galant Fortis in Japan).

At least you got an evo that wasn't beat to death sure he might have gotten one cheaper but think of all the things that have possibly been done to that used car.

new = fresh , expensive, no prior history
used-cheaper, older, possible ticking time bomb, Hey wth is that cut wire hanging in the engine bay?

What was this article in im interested in reading it?

Ive driven a Evo III,VII,VIII,IX, and X

the III-IX you cant help but to smile while driving its just a absolutely fun car to drive . The X is a good car with a lot of potential but it just doesn't feel like an Evo.

my friend's mag... its called "0-60" has a silver EvoX on the cover and says "the best? from Evo1-X" its also got a thing on the Lotus Esprit (past to latest version) and also one on the M3 and Z... its pretty cool. A big mag w/ a stiff cover, kinda fancy for an automag. I've never heard of it... (im usually reading Turbo Mag etc..)

Yep, I like the looks though

Btw, if they made the 'i' the new Evo, it would've been mid engine AWD 5 door hatch rally car -)

With 4B11, ACD, SAYC, SAWC, 5/6spd transmission or the SST, stronger and heavier axles, bigger wheels (16" or 17" would be perfect), chassis reinforcement, brake system, suspension and enlarged and widened wheel well, the car would weigh no where near the original 'i' weight (1900lbs) but it would still be around 2600-2700lbs.

improvement over time....continue building on what works and scrap what doesnt....only way to truely figure the two out is to produce it for a few years and make changes where necassary.....cool little bit of info, never really looked at it that way....

i agree with that logic. by the time you are in the last one of the series, mitsu would have caught all the mistakes not found in testing. i still wished they had a mivec for both cams on the evo 9. dammit

The changes in the VIII to IX can be remedied by the aftermarket. No worries.

From what I've learned talking to Romanians, Brits, Aussies about the Evo, if the car is stock, a III or VI is usually the sought after one. But the VI changes are usually applied to a IV or V if the car was bought to be modded, like how VIII owners are installing IX turbos.

I like the IX just because the engine was kept. I don't like how they changed engines for the X.
