The 2 things that stick out most:

1. Near telepathic steering response.
2. Grip. Especially if you're new to AWD, the Evo's traction is almost physics-defying.

you gotta drive it. You should try to find an 05 or Evo9.

I've owned an 06 STI and now my evo. The STi has a much flatter torque curve, and pushes hard until the rev limiter, which is at like 7001 RPM. The Evo is a little weaker at low RPM, pushes harder from 3500-5500, and peters out by red line. The stock rev limit on my 06 was 7800 or so. DD I used to hit the rev limiter all the time in the STI, because it feels like you are still getting into the power band when it cuts power. Daily driving my evo I rarely hit 7000 RPM, and only hit the rev limiter once on purpose, and once by accident. The evo is more fun to drive.

I traded my 05 acura rsx type-s for 05 ssl evo viii.I thought the acura was fast until i was introduce to turbo with minimal boost.Left the dealership with a serious boner and my evo.you'll love how the car handles and how fast it is

The car is fast, without a doubt, but it was the handling that impressed me the most

Totally agree with the above. Check my name. I had a 1.8t Jetta, then a 1.8T GTI, and now the EVO. The evo beats them by a long shot. My mistake was I test drove an 05', then went and traded my GTi for an IX.

my GTi used to punish the bolt on Evos around here.....from a roll at least

but i the evo is on another level....it cant even be compaired to a 1.8t....u would need to spend at least 3.5k to get your jetta @ 300 WHP

i spent about 500 bucks to get the evo there

Ha i traded my IX for a black gli coz trying to cut cost to purchase a house. Now, Im trying to get my foot of my *** for letting my IX go. I've given some though of getting
a X but with the simple issues X owners has makes me want another IX.
