Factory recall?

I saw a post on here where someone said they got their tranny rebuilt for free due to a factory recall on the 5th gear synchro/p0300 problem the 03's have. Was this guy just full of BS? I called Mitsu USA directly to ask if there was any such recall, and they told me that the only one for 03's was for a certification tag. Does anyone have any info on this subject?

Its not a recall but SOME dealerships will change your grinding syncro's, I got my 3rd and 5th syncros changed under warranty... but i had a few problems. check link.

Well, my warranty was up quite some time ago. I just figured that with the multitude of 03 owners having this problem, mitsu would step up and rectify it. Then again, we are talking about Mitsu.

They would not warranty mine. I had to end up buying a new 5th gear synchro ring, and also a new 5th gear.

mine grinds when i change my gear aggressively. But perfect when i drive normal(only 2nd going 3rd). Its been doing since i bought the car(brand new). It drives fine so dont plan to take it to dealership. Dont even know if it really is syncro(could be my driving)

Mine grinds a lot of the time unless my RPMs are real low. Like joon82 said it could be my driving though lol. No other gears do this only the fifth gear and even then it really is not much.

I think I have the same problem with you guys.
I feel the 5th gear had some problem when I drive like 60mph and change from 4th to 5th. And then I will hear the sound like cracking when shifting from 4 to 5 at 4-5000RPM at that kind of speed.

So is it true that Mitsu dealer will done it for us?

I doubt the dealer would bother. They will tell you to go play in the corner at best.

I do though have a non-dealer warranty that I may try to use on this before long. Just have not bothered getting around to doing it yet.

I just bought parts for this and had it fixed. Parts were about $110. I had to replace the fifth gear on the output shaft, and the synchro ring. Does not grind at all.
