Evo 8 Wing Clear Coat & Recall

hello everybody i own a 03 as evo 8 and my clear coat on the wing looks like sht
i have heard ppl talk about there being a recall on the wing and that mitsu will replace for free. i am the second owner of the car and i talked to one mitsu dealer they stated there was just a tsb on the wing not a recall and without a recall # i will not get anything from them.
is there anybody out there that has actually got their wing replaced for free and what did u tell the dealer or what recall # do u have that will warrant this wing to be replaced. lmk

i dont think mitsubishi warranty for the body of the car extends to the 2nd owner... someone correct me if im wrong..

and IF you get it warrentied, then prepare to get a evo 9 wing (not full carbon fiber)

you can take the wing to a body shop and ask them to reclear the wing, i was quoted like 200 of a local body shop here in CO, and there are some ppl on here that you can ship your wing to and they can do it for you.

Nope I had the same problem with my Evo 8 wing. So this last weekend I re-cleared it myself. It was very very easy and I think it looks better than stock!!

i have a 2004 and i was denied for the wing, trunk and brake caliper. the trunk would only be covered if it rusted all the way thru.

clear it yourself. i will be undertaking this in the very near future. it sucks but unless you have the extended factory warrenty bought at the original time of purchase your f'ed.

oh i having a cf hood, exhaust and boost gauge didn't help either.

It is NOT a recall. Recalls are reserved for repairs that are safty related. You are talking about a TSB, or technical service bulletin. If your car is within the 3 year 36k mile warranty it is replaceable. If not, just sand it down and reclear it yourself. It takes less than 1 hour to do it right.

I called my dealership yesteday about the spoiler and brake calipers, and they said they haven't heard anything about these issues. I think they're full of crap, so I'm just going to sand and clear it myself.
