OCTANE BOOSTERS, good idea, or horrible ??
certainly stores like PEP-BOYS, NADA and others would seem to talk you into buying a bottle of Octane booster, and pouring it in the tank, especially for the turbocharged cars....
My Q is, is this a good idea for the EVO (assuming you're on your way to the track, and want the quickest, cheapest possible extra few horses) ?
I think thats its useless at best, or even detrimental... but the store staff are reassuring me that i am wrong...
ideas please -

just run some race fuel as a mixture with your super. i do it a decent amout and my car runs awsome, feels faster on race fuel, and smells awsome
but seriously go get some 110 an mix it with your super.

There are a couple products that boost the octane rating of your gas by a significant amount. Sport Compact Car magazine did some tests and found a couple that worked. NOS Racing Formula stands out in my head. It's not street legal if that matters to you. I decided against using it because of potential spark plug fouling issues but you can do some research and decide for yourself.
In other words, yes you need a tune to take advantage of the race fuel that you are running.
