I like it. I can drive up to three hours and be to any major CA city, Yosemite, the beach, most race tracks, and I bought a 3br/1.5ba house for $143K. My pay checks go farther than most CA cities.
But, I've also lived in other cities and states, so had a chance to evaluate where I really wanted to live.
Not everyone gets that opportunity, so they hate it here by default LOL
Edit: when I'm older and/or retired, and/or decided I'm not into going to race tracks or being as active outdoors, I would absolutely consider moving to another state. But only if I'm retired, that way make the same amount of money no matter where I'm at.
as you can tell, I've thought about it a LOT before making the decision to stay.

Three hours anywhere here will be a major city or another state. Some of the best rock climbing and hiking in the world is here too.

Anyway, unfortunately, nature will be making the decisions for you in the not so distant future.

There ya go: if I made the same pay in your state and was into rock climbing, I'd absolutely be looking at going there. It's all about being where we like.
Still, everyone that lives outside of California tries to tell me how much of a mistake I've made by staying. well duh. they don't like it here, so they left. Doesn't mean I don't LOL

Random Q, on average how long do your Evo shops take to strip down an engine and rebuild once parts are available ?

Depends on who you go with, their work load, what all has to be done to the engine, parts availability, time to take engine apart, machine, and rebuild, given all that a few months and depending of its a local shop to you or one else where you have to consider time to ship and with this stupid virus we all know how long that can be hung up. I know I've been waiting on rods for my car since January and here its September already and I was still told 4 to 6 weeks.

yeah covid has really messed things up big time.
I've been waiting almost 5 months now, but thing is the shop focuses more on race cars so that takes first preference.
All my parts are there, now just to assemble and tune.

Thanks sucks man. My other car took 2.5 years just getting a new engine swapped. The guy was proven to be a good fabricator. But I think he took my car in as a 'fun side project' than a weekend race car. This transaction actually made me buy my Evo 'while I waited'
I did have my Evo's motor rebuilt eventually by a very busy local shop. They shipped the motor to Buschur and the whole process took about 6 weeks

I am quoting people 4-6 months for engine builds right now. Pre covid, it was 4-6 weeks. Some take as long as a year when you cant get parts. It really sucks and most people dont understand its not the builders fault. You literally cant get parts in a reasonable amount of time these days.

Finally looking like a compete engine now. Maybe about a hour worth of work left and it should be running again..... after 8 months.

Thanks to @SoSoEVO for swinging by for the rest of the assembly. It runs again!

Got a couple small things left to do and I'll take it for a spin. But it's way too hot out right now.

Guess no one else is working on their evo.... well, I finally drove mine out of the garage after these wonderful 8 months. Took it around the block and all seemed good. Might see if it makes it to work next week. Weird driving it again....

Fabbed up a pre turbo water injection system. No pumps, uses boost pressure through a hvlp spray head for air and water pressure. Super fine atomization so it won’t damage the turbos compressor wheel.
