Electrical Issue

Ok I just replaced my stock battery today with an optima red top and after fighting with it for about 30mins I got the damn thing in. I ended up plugging the + on the - and the - on the +(I know that was stupid, but for some reason I didnt bother to look). Anyway after all that I go to test my alarm and it turns on just fine but the front turn signals dont come on and it does not lock my car doors. Also when I try to lock the doors with the button inside the car it does nothing as well...but when I turn the power on the doors will lock and the windows roll down as well. My interior lights do not come no matter what and same with my radio. Everything else works great! I'm thinking there is a blown fuse but I checked every fuse both in the car and under the hood and they are all good. Are there maybe some other fuses I'm missing? What do you guys think?

well, either you fried a computer, or like you said, you have a blown fuse. it also could have melted some wire insulation somewhere and they are touching or grounding out somewhere. in this case, a test light is your friend. good luck. check engine light on? more info please. oh, and LOL at noob battery install. also read the threads about the mini batteries posted recently. could be a loose terminal issue too.

Simplified Wiring System - a bunch of little computers that run all of this stuff. You probably fried one or more of these. This is going to require a trip to the dealer to diagnose.

You blew the main fuse. It's a bigger fuse, under hood. Start there first.

*Edit* Does the car start?

Like everyone said, you probably (and hopefully) only just blew a fuse.

Test them all out and see.

More information would help us diagnose the problem (will the car start, any other problems, etc)

Could also be the ETACS unit which controls interior lightning, door locks, power windows, even turn signal I think. Try to get an ETACS from a friend's evo and see if that solves the problems. I would lend you mine, but I am far far away... good luck.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but did the OP solve this issue? Just wondering what was the cause of this. The symptoms point to the fuses in the IOD (yellow connector in the underdash fuse box with 2 fuses), and another member has recently had the same symptoms. Thanks.
