I am still a fan of mt-90 in the tranny and hvy/lght mix in the tcase. Rotella 15w-40 in the motor.

and the bad thing is that the trans/tcase get so hot that when your oil is old and breaks down and you still bang gears thats when your car breaks.

so if i'm reading that correctly, it's not required to change t-belt at 60k miles (except to keep emissions warranty) and required change is at 105k miles? hmm never knew.

does anyone recommend using only the oem engine filter or would a mobil 1 filter do the same thing? And just to confirm I can use the same fluid for both the TC and the rear diff?

I've been only using the OEM engine oil filter since I bought my car 18 months ago. Works great and brings some peace to mind knowing it was designed specifically for our engine. Now, once you start modding the EVO heavily, it may no longer be your best choice (the same goes for using Mobil 1 5W-30 oil). And yes, you can use the same oil for the transfer case and the rear diff. I also just use the OEM oil. I use Royal Purple in the tranny.

what motor oil you running, cause I'm looking into the amsoil I use it in my bike and I'm pleased. I just picked up an 03 evo with basic mods, intake, exhuast, and mild cams. you think I should go with 10-30 or 40? thanks for your advice man!

I looked on the AMSOIL website and for an 06 Evo they recommend:

MTGQT-EA
Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube (75W-90) API GL-4 : 1 QUART

SVGQT-EA
SEVERE GEAR 75W-90 Synthetic EP Lubricant: (1) quart bottle

Any feedback appreciated!
I used AMSOIL in the tranny, diffs, and engine on my IX MR. Although I have not used the factory recommended fluids, I feel AMSOIL works better based on the feel of the car and decrease in mechanical noise. I feel the difference is most noticed in the tranny as you get smoother gear changes and overall less gear whine.

I didn't read the whole thread but its not on pg.1 so if its been covered here it is again. I called to order the trans fluid for my 03 Evo and they said the old number has been superseded.

Old: MZ313376

New: 3717610

This is for the 4 liter metal container. I'm picking it up tonight so I can verify the changes.
