evo 9 mr vs c6
Besides, who wants to be mistaken for a middle-aged geezer going through a midlife crisis. There isn't any type of exclusivity with the regular C6, do you know how many of these things there are on the road? There are at least 10 times as many regular C6's on the road than Evo's. At least with a Z06 some people will recognize the car for what it is-rare and dangerously fast.

I've never had any problems shutting down the regular C6s at the track. SO yeah, my little rice burner 2.0L Evo bringing down a big bad V8 6.2L, I call ***** on that one. Granted, the C6s I've raced werent' wearing slicks (I don't think). Get a Z06, or at least supercharge the regular C6.

Because that proves what? That the select handfull of C6's that you've been around at the track haven't done that well? There's a lot of variables that come into play there with driver being the largest. I'm sure, just like your situation with the C6's that there's someone out there who's only seen Evo's run 14's at the track. I guess that means they are all slow? To think so would be foolish.
Anyways, while we're comparing stock cars to ones with four lines of mods should we compare the AMS drag car vs. z06 next?

And just to respond to the reeking of blatant ignorance and fanboyism parts of your post:
You may have out driven a handfull of drivers, you beat a driver not a car. C6's trap 115 with poor drivers on stock tires without trying, and that's without four lines of mods.
And yes the average driver of them usually is older, just like the average porsche, bentley, ferrari driver and average homeowner. Amazingly, most of what I just listed requires money, surprising that most of those in them are older. . Fortunately I as well as many buy cars for fun factors, not because of the image it emits. I now know that I'll be looked down upon by all the kids with neons setting up street races at Taco Bell on the weekends, and believe me it makes me really sad. I'll have to put on that sideways hat and blast techno to bump up my image!
As far as production numbers go, comparing older Evo's(IX) production numbers of 2006 weren't quite 10 times as many according to a few posts. More like 2 times as many, but hey that's almost 10, right?

I am glad to know that at least the moderators are sane
I dare any of you hot heads to race a stock evo against a stock C6 LS3 on a drag track or a road course. Of course you need to be fair and pick a driver that equals or betters your skill.
Then you can try racing an evo with exhaust, intake, ecu tune and slicks against C6 LS3 with the same mods. The difference maybe smaller than the stock example, but the C6 would still wipe the floors with you. Corvettes are quite a challenging car to drive fast, but when it is driven fast, you'd be surprised how fast it can go.
Evos are great machine, but they are not immortal...
Try finding a race prepped evo that would run quicker than a C6R, or if we're talking straight line, then those 7 second C5 drag monsters (I'm sure they'll soon get some of C6s to that level)

I owed both an evo8 and a c6 s51 and they are two different beasts...the c6z51 was a blast of a car all around...30mpg on the parkway, low 20s around town yet it turned low 12s @ 115 with just an intake and when I added headers and a tune I would have likely been trapping around 118 or so...while the evo8 I had was your bolts ons + meth + nitrous that ran mid 11s @ 122ish...the evo was indeed faster but it was a different beast with lots of work done to it...if I had added nitrous to the vette it would have gone much faster than 122...I am not bashing the evo as it was still my favorite car of the two but the c6z51 was an awesome car...

2005 - 37,372 produced
2006 - 27,749
Evo production numbers: (there were even less during 03-04)
2005 - 4500
2006 - 8201
so we have 65, 121 vettes getting pumped out of Detroit (in a very sloppy American fashion mind you) and a total of 12701 Evo's imported into the US for the 2005-2006 model years. So actually its a little more than FIVE TIMES AS MANY vettes as Evo's on American roads (for the 05-06 models). So the Evo is five times as rare. If you count the 03 and 04 model years, it becomes even rarer. When you purchase your C6, make sure you leave enough in your budget for your Rogaine, and Viagra to impress all those hot young women out there! In reality, I could care less about the image that the car I drive projects. I drive an Evo, and I hate being mistaken for a young punk kid driving a rice-mobile. However, I like the 4G63 AWD platform, so be it. For now I'm happy taking dumps on C6 owners who think that they drive something "exotic". Haha!
On another note, I've also seen modified C6's run and they are actually no joke. A C6 is said to have a stronger block than even the Z06 so its nothing to laugh about. A friend of mine had a modified C6 that was supercharged to 600 whp with no changes to the heads or block (running pump gas). I have nothing against vettes, or vipers or cobras, I've worked on my shared of performance domestics. It just chaps my *** when people buy a regular C6 and think its all that and a bag of chips.

what brian h is saying is right...
i mean you run a 12.3 at the track, i seen many regular c6's run faster then that. just cause you beat one, doesnt mean you beat them all. and you have all them mods on your car and stock c6's will beat it. i see why you would call that a ***** car

So again since you've seen C6's run slow, they are all slow? I've seen 35rd evos cut 12's, I guess all evo's are slow. Pretty stupid statement and makes me sound like a Vette fanboy doesn't it? That's without making blatantly foolish comments regarding the entire owner base.
Yes it still uses pushrods, and that has a lot to do with keeping the motor small and the weight down in it(LS3 is right around 400lbs). They could DOHC it and add a few hundred pounds, hell maybe they could even knock down the mpg's that people can crank out with it as well so people could talk about their 'new' technologies. Or they could stick with technology that works, much like people have stuck to internal combustion motors. Personally I'll take what's been proven time and time again and works. Yes some of the engineering in the vette is OLD, and it's still pulling cars around the track several times its cost with newer technologies? Kind of funny isn't it? OH wait, that' right. You've never seen it so it doesn't happen.
As far as engineering goes, I can't speak for the rest of GM but I can speak for the vette. The drivetrain is about as solid as you can get, rarely do you read of people having problems. That's not to say that the car is without issues, just about everyone has a sqeaky roof but that's about the only issue that I've seen in mine in 5K miles of driving. But what do I know, I'm only someone that seems to have experience with this platform instead of just making blind statements regarding it. Whether it be a whining transfer case, squeaking roof, ringlands that like to be changed with the oil, or wiring harnesses that look like they were hacked together by a second grader, many cars have problems. I however have been pleased with mine so far.
Thanks for the math lesson, you've shown that the numbers are closer to 5, which is still pretty close to 10 times as many, right? Did you include the z06's in that since your original comment was regarding the c6. Even with those subtracted it's still almost 10.
I don't think my cars an exotic, I think it's a fun car to drive. Much like I didn't think the Evo was exclusive, anyone working a part time job could afford one. Congrats? To think either is exotic or exclusive is laughable at best. If you're hung up on driving something 'rare', go buy a pink yugo because neither car being talked about here is rare and nobody sees them as such. To use such as a point of argument is just dumb.
Yes, I've put aside my allocation for rogaine and viagra. I bought my vette at the age you are now, so I hope you've begun stockpiling as well. Getting up there in age is hell.
To help un-butthurt you, I don't think my car is the end all be all of performance cars like some here seem think of their cars(no problems at all, and built by the hand of god, and can only be beaten by a jet(SRT4?)). I just think it's a fun car to drive for what it is, and bone stock for having the '*****' model there's not much out there that can touch it without dumping more money into the car and getting yourself into a how fast do you want to spend/go today pit.

I haven't seen any C6 at the strip go that fast, and I've raced against quite a few of them. Maybe the old men that were driving them forgot to take their Centrum Silver that day. My Evo is an 03, with a worn down stock block and STOCK 03 turbo with the STOCK 9.8 hotside, and I've never lost to a stock C6. I am by no means a Evo "fanboy" I've driven many other German sports cars and Japanese sports cars. I'm actually contemplating selling my Evo for a Turbo 911...The C6 vette does not belong in the same sentence as Porsche, Bentley, or Ferrari. The C6 is just a typical example of why our Auto market is in the tubes, its a domestic piece of crap which has been poorly engineered, and is actually many years behind its time in terms of technology (still using push rods for gods sake!). Ok its math time! If you look at the c6 production numbers:
2005 - 37,372 produced
2006 - 27,749
Evo production numbers: (there were even less during 03-04)

Here's the Car and Driver numbers for you
2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution RS
0-60 MPH: 5.1 seconds
1/4 time: 13.5 @ 103 MPH
2006 Chevrolet Corvette
0-60 MPH: 4.3 seconds (4.1 in other tests)
1/4 time: 12.8 @ 113 MPH
So how is a car that it faster than the Evo a ***** car? Doesn't that automatically make the Evo an even bigger ***** car?

I think the guy who started this thread is a troll anyway...
but yea I was surprised when I first saw the numbers for the c6 vette.. Ive see it cut as low as 4 flat for 0-60 etc. I thought it'd be more like i dunno a base challenger compared to a srt8 model or something.
c6 is a beast

I think it shows what people are comparing Evos to, and expect out of a high performance car in the US market. Three hundred HP out of the box, just doesn't cut it anymore. You can get a new Pontiac G8 Gxp with over 400 hp/tq . for the same price as an MR, and actually have a warranty.
Exactly.. that's why I'm wondering if that other thread bout having a 6 cylinder in the evo is really that crazy after all. Mitsubishi is trying to expand the market or whatever, and sooo many cars in the past 3-4 years have been moving up in displacement to compete...
The legacy of Lancer Evolution is in the whims of Mitsubishi, after all. Whatever they decide is what it is.
Though.. for now, the 2.0T has been holding up quite well against its competition.
