From where I sit, I'm happy to see people modding away, screwing up the cars, decorating to their hearts' content. Five years from now, finding an Evo is mint condition will serve as a minor miracle. Ten years from now, forgetaboutit. Some will still be driving and enjoying their cars, but there won't be many of them. Mark my words.
There is also the argument that, given how incredible the aftermarket for the Evo is, to own one for so long without ever modding it to waste one of the best reasons for buying an Evo in the first place. I happen to see it this way. Just because one mods an Evo does not mean he/she won't be driving it many years to come.

Exactly, what is the argument and its basis?

I happen to see it this way.
OK.

Just because one mods an Evo does not mean he/she won't be driving it many years to come.
1. You need to define modding. It can range from simply uncorking the motor with a tune and a MBC, to a complete reconstruction of the automobile.

2. Having spent the last 4 years on this forum, there's a vivid correlation between heavily modded cars and short-term ownership. Whether it's due to the individual attracted to such a hobby who wants to move onto the next project, or a broken car with no funds for repair, or any other myriad of factors not the least of which being decreased reliability/longevity and a diminished drivability.
