Evo does not like the cold
A guy at work had something like this happen but on a different car. He had his car outside during an ice storm. Afterwards he went outside to test if it was safe to drive. He thought it was ok. Someone in his family said that during his test drive up the hill that one of his front tires didn't move at all. The entire inside was iced over. He tossed some hot water on it (don't think I would have done that...) and it opened up. He thought that once he would have hit dry pavement that he knew it would have broken free by itself.
Just to update u guys, the parking brake was on when I left it for 2 weeks, and it scared me so bad that I've stopped using the e-brake and now am just putting it in gear. But, I still sometimes get a little bit of "stick" when I get going.
Ask Tnnrx7, its the scariest f*ing thing that'll happen to you... you're like 'did I just brake my axle off or sh*t my tranny???' and you start looking in front of the car.... not good.
Also, I think it may be a combo of freezing/bad rust because it was really bad out when I drove to the airport and when I got back I had some serious rust and brake wobble that didn't go away until I held down the brakes and gas a little bit for about a mile on the interstate.
FWIW, Mitsu did a great job with the IX, it loves snow!

Anyone else notice this car really really hate the cold? This morning is was a toasty -15F outside. Luckily it was in my garage, which normally stays above freezing or at least warming than outside. Warmed it up and it seemed ok. Went home from work today at 5 (warmed up to +1) and just trying to reverse feels like my parking park is engaged. The drivetrain fluids are just that thick. I let the engine warm up but that does pretty much jack for the drivetrain. Today I stepped on it after driving 10 miles and it had some get up but yesterday it felt sooo slow. I don't know if it's because I have boost creep from it being so cold (stock atm..) or because if I have a boost leak.
I'm doing 30K mile service in a few weeks + oil change. I may try to go a boost leak test but does anyone else notice the evo being slow in sub-zero temps?

I agree. Mine was in the garage and yesterday morning, I couldn't start mine for like 10 min. The temp in Wisconsin was like -25 plus wind chill
. In the mean time, my garage door decide to not work when I tried to close the door to keep the cold air out. I have exhaust fumes inside the garage too. I feel like it's going to kill me
Finally got the garage door to open again and got the beast to start. Can't wait until Spring!

Yeah my garage didn't like me either that morning!(-15). I tried to open it and it sounded like it feel off but it didn't move. I was a little scared/pissed when I had to replace the spring just 3 months ago. On the second try it finally opened. I hate winter so much. I need to win the lotto so I can get the hell out of here...
My car wont start anymore. It stopped starting during -10 weather and hasnt started since in 20 degree weather. It cranks but won't start. I think I killed my walbro? My gas tank was at about 1/9th left so I don't know if my lines are frozen or not...The best ive gotten is the revs to move to like 100rpm. Anyone have any suggestions? =/
If I leave mine outside when it drops down below 0 overnight (was -33 last wednesday with the wind chill), it takes forever for her to start. Like, drain my mini batter dead, have to jump it forever. I've heard that many ppl use a block heater when it gets really cold. I just pulled it into my garage where it's always 50+ degrees thanks to an electric heater. She runs great when warmed up, however i don't go WOT unless it's at lest in the 20s. I know cooler more dense air= more power, but I just don't like it when it's that cold out.
For those who say not to drive the Evo in the winter. Bah, this is the best, funnest car Ever in the snow. As long as you take care of it (WD40 is your friend), it will still last forever and look great. Sure, I'd love to keep it in the garage and not drive it, but what's the point. It's a Car, you can't take it with you when you die.

Once we started getting the 0 degree weather around here my car has been acting crazy.....sometimes she starts up and will warm up fine but most of the time the engine will turn over and over and over without firing and i'll even have to hook it up to the charger/jumper and it still won't start.....when it does decide to start it it idles at about 100 RPM for about 10 seconds before it comes to life....if my car stalls before it is completely warmed up it will not start....
