Question timer and auto headlight off??

I just got my Apexi TT installed by a Mitsu tech and now my auto-off headlight function does not work when I take the key out OR when the engine shuts off. It only turns off when I put the parking brake down after taking the key out, or when the timer is off..

Is this normal????

Does it really matter? Just turn the head lights off by hand.

Wait... mine will turn off after 10-15 minutes using the Blitz DTT. It won't auto off right when you take the key out like it did stock, but it will turn off... At least mine does.

It hasnt been affected. What happens is that the car thinks you turned off the engine but are still sitting in your car because the engine turned off and the door wasnt opened. As soon as you open the door is when the headlights turn off. However, if you never open the door, the lights turn off after about 10 mins.

I notice I have the same problem too. I just manually turn the headlight off when I get out of the car.

ok, evo has another auto off fuction that you guys might not know. If the car is off(when the TT finishes) and your lights is on, it'll leave it on for about 3 minutes or so and then turn itself off. Go ahead and try it out, it's pretty darn cool....

There are more sensors than that, if you notice when you open the door and the interior light turns on, it doesn't turn off immediately unless you lock the door. I think coolguy provided the most rational reasoning here.

I never knew there was auto-off for the headlights, it's just a reaction to turn off the headlights when I get out the car, at least for me it is.

You can test this even if you don't have a turbo timer.

Turn on your headlights, then turn off the car. Notice how the headlights dont turn off unless you open the door.

Now, turn on your engine and headlights then open the door. The lights stay on.

That's exactly what's happening with the turbo timer. I thinks since the engine is still runing and you opened your door, that you intend on getting back in your car and driving some more so it doesnt turn off the headlights. If you let your car turn off via the turbo timer, go back up to it and open the door from the outside, the lights will turn off immediately.

I get in the habit of turning my lights off now when I exit. But sometimes you dont notice they are on if it's bright outside. This is where the auto off feature is really awesome. I did that at school, came back and the lights were off but the switch was in the on position. Thanks !

I didnt know that the auto off still worked with the timer. How many minutes is it until they shut off?
