Evolution Release Date
Don't shoot the messenger on this one just passing on info. Was at my dealer yesterday and he told me that the EVO will be here (in OH) on Decemeber 22nd they want them to go on sale B4 the Christmas rush. They will be turbo charged (obviously) with 275HP (no info on the location of the Intercooler) with a base price of $30K but after taxes and all that other good stuff and with various options he beleives the going rate is going to be closer to $35K, also they all seem to believe that
is going to do a limited run of these cars to see how the market responds.
Again I'm just reporting the info I got, this is the RUMORS forum and that's all this is however I did speak with 3 other people in management, sales and service and they all told me similar stories, so think what you will of this info.
Let me know what you all think of this "information"

I am thinking the target market is males in their 20's. With a 30K+ sticker, I don't think sales will be all that great. That price is a little steep for people in their 20's. Mitsu should try to keep the price sub-30K like they said they would. And I believe they will.
Here's what I think for target audiences:
under $30K: spoiled teenies (rich kids, includes spoiled college kids who don't work) up to mid-twenties (people like me who just got out of college and started earning some sort of income...
$30K to $35K: Mid-twenties to middle-aged (mid-life crisis/married) men
$35K on up: Are you crazy?? For a 4-banger slapped on with some turbo??? Better to get a BMW...

EvoSouL, I'm in the same boat as you. I am graduating next week.
I also think a mid 30's price tag would decrease sales. Those who want it CAN'T afford it, and those who CAN afford it don't want it.
Do you think you will be seeing many mid-life crisis guys driving a funky four door car with a 7 foot high spolier?
I doubt it.

actually Evosoul, i make between 55,000 and 75,000 a year and i love my lancer. i chose it over many cars that would smoke it in a second, but MY OPINION is if you like the car go for it. and there is the reason i bought. i have been traveling around the world for two years now and i have seen lancers everywhere but the states, i wanted one since i first layed eyes on it. i like the way it looks and the quickness is a minor setback, but with paitence and and a hearth filled with the love of justice good will overcome. sorry got off the path a little. there would only be two others cars that i would take instead of the lancer, an acura nsx type R or a nissan skyline GTR(or gt34r or whatever)

If it end up being $35k I am going to punch someone realy hard... preferably a salesman at the
dealer.
Then again... It sounds like total bs to me anyway. As we all know we've heard 100 different people on this board have their dealers tell him 100 different things.
I'm still sitting back waiting to hear the news from the men up top.

no doubt...I have a really rich friend who spent about 8g on his wrx, (ball bearing turb, huge top mount ic, exhaust, dog box) and now instead of putting a down on an evo he has a down on an sti ahem..wagon. Makes me sick
In regards to the pricing and market segment I'm in my mid 40's, yes you read it correctly. I am currently driving a mildly modified 93 civic SI hatchback, but can't wait to get my *** into a EVO VII. Regardless of your age if you are into performance cars you must respect this vehicle.
Evo Pricing
Guys, lets face it... no one has a clue what the Evo will cost, what options it will come with and what the hp/torque will be... let alone the official releas date. Time will tell...
But I think a few of you gents are a little confused at who would buy an Evo... As DR J noted, people who want performance will buy the car, that is if it the Evo comes Euro/Jap spec'd. And rich little brats will buy whatever car they want including an Evo since their parents can't comprehend small brained inexperienced drivers and expensive performance cars don't mix... But I guess they do if thet's the only way to show love as a parent.
If you want image, look at the Germans. I hate to say it, but 35k for a BMW buys you a badge... 46 large gives you some pep, but if you want the real deal, you got one of three choices: 50+k for the M3, 70k for the M5, and 120k for the Z8. Every other model is just good, not great... which means yeah they're better than Merc, but that is it.
Just look who drives Bimmers now... aaah miss? Shouldn't you be driving wihtout doing you nails and talking on the phone? And the classic... yeah, it's a BMW but you're still a weak, little schmuck who still can't get laid and did I mention you're an a**&%(@?
Even the great BMW has fallen to the horde of yuppies... let us pray that the EVO and other Jap sports cars don't succumb.
Peace.
