Wow. I was expecting something minor for a hit and run...I'd start checking around anyone around town because whoever did it is going to have obvious marks on their car. Insurance can always fix your car...dont let the chance to get revenge slip away.

If I claim it, My rates will either double, or my insurance company will drop me. Over a 3 year period that could mean over 10k easy, it will just be more easy just to pay out of pocket.
Hit and run is a serious crime. Especially considering the damages total over 5 grand. Report it, it's bad that you haven't already.

Your rates shouldn't double. Check the post about state laws.
If you have actually confirmed this with your insurance company, who the hell is your insurance company?

All my criticism about how you've handled this so far aside, I'm really sorry about your ride. I nearly lost it when my car was keyed, you were seriously wronged by an irresponsible scumbag. I can't imagine how that feels.

^^^ Ya this isnt my first time being in a hit and run in a Evo (not mine lastime). Last time I was lucky and got the info off the truck.

I will fix it on my own I have the cash thats not the problem, The problem would be them droping me after the claim, that happen to me last time I had a small claim. They said it was cause I was to high of a risk to their company.

If this happend a year from now it wouldnt be a big deal cause 60% of my tickets would have fallen off.

That makes a little more sense to me, but still, I'd report the crime. Even if you really can't claim it with your insurance company. If it were me I'd be checking into my policy and legal rights as a policy holder.
