Got another sound problem...

Ok guys when I shift normall in my Evo VIII it sounds fine, but when I get and it and shift hard it makes a hard thud from the rear diffy....Every gear. It may be a noob question....but is this normal?
I've heard it is.

Yes. Called Evo Thump. Can replace rear diff bushings with poly. No hard thump, but can translate more sound into the car (gear sound).

Your letting go of the clutch too fast. You can do one of three things, go a bit easier, get rear diff bushing or replace the mustache bar altogether.

I get the same thing.. it's normal. As mentioned above it's the rear diff hitting the chassis -- or something like that.

you can stop it from doing that by doing the things mentioned above. Otherwise, if it bugs you that much, don't shift so hard and it won't happen.

its the way your shifting....when i let my buddy bang out a couple gears in my evo it did it n he was wtf! hahaha then when i got back in the seat n ripped through sum gears it didnt make a sound. dont shift hard...shift fast... He was shifting it like it was a V8 with a hurst shifter lol

Yeah, it's a real hard thud, like a big rock is hitting the underside of the car. And it's totally normal. I have it too.

Yeah...First time driving the Evo I thought it was the car. Then I asked some of my friends they told me I'm letting the clutch off too fast. (of course this was done at the dealer, which I never bought) =)
