Apartments are number one targets for thieves. Hopefully they do something stupid and get caught.

I had Ray's lug nuts. They're the kind where some of the lug nuts are 7-sided, but I don't think any sort of wheel lock will stop a determined thief.

Man that is horrible to hear. Looks like in addition to those lugs ill also be looking into a nice alarm to alert me if sh.t is going down right under my nose. I can't imagine how you feel right now, I hope insurance hooks you up.

I feel your pain LagginTimes. I would def. do something about it. I mean, the f***king landlord should do a better job of protecting their tenant's property. If it were me, I'll move out unless they do something about it and they better give back the deposits! I hope you can get it all back through insurance.

You can get at least two security camera from BestBuy and also a security system that will alert you when someone come close to your car or break in. Also get a Glock 9 and cripple those thieves next time they try to stripped your Evo again

Apparently my car was untargeted that time.... But this time i was out of luck, i guess. I'm going to see the car either tonight or tomorrow, and i suppose i'll post photos of what's left of my baby. At least i still have 70% of my car.... I suppose. How much does it cost to install a few cameras around the garages here? Too much apparently.... Even though my roommate and i shell out a grand per person per month to live in this craphole apartment.
man im sorry it happened to ya but man a grand per month per person man i know ur butt hole has to be sore lol grand per person are yall paying for a security guard man thats crazy

As for the landlord/moving out, the apartment complex is pretty huge and the guys in the leasing office could give less of a crap towards installing a few cameras in the garages around here. My lease ends in July and we've already found an actual house with a driveway right next to it, so if someone ever touches my car again, I will know. I also do have several firearms, but there's no Castle doctrine in Virginia. I can, at most, probably try to scare them away. Unless they try to kill me... then they're dead.

Yes, the cost of rent around here is another reason for moving.

I'm going to see the car tomorrow, I suppose photos will be in order then.

With all that damage it's possible the car will be totaled. Between the seats, wheels, hood, trunk, and any other damage you have well over $15,000 in repairs.

wow that sucks dude...sometimes depending on the apartment/ condo u got to check out the security. One of the first things you should get though is an alarm of some type...hopefully everything turns out well for you though - I, myself had to learn the hard way, but I only lost out on some armor all and cd's (go figure), but still enough to make you paranoid as heck

More likely these were not Evo owners. These were likely people that wanted a quick buck for their next fix.

Dude man I feel for you...
The same situation and in the SAME SETTING happened to me about a month ago. I am a student and I live off campus at this apartment complex for students. I park my evo in the private underground lot under the apartment. They also give us a key card to swipe and get in. We also have a metal door that opens and closes when we swipe. There are no other way in besides another door, which has a lock on it, and through the apartment and down the elevators. The elevators even have "cameras" in them.

I came down the morning after and I noticed my key didnt work. Then I saw the little rear window smashed and they went in a stripped most of the interior on the front. My seats and exterior parts were not taken atleast. They took my V1 radar detector, GPS, radio, and some other stuff that I had in the car (camera, bags, etc.)

The total cost for everything lost was probably around 6000, however around 4000 was covered by insurance.

Oh and the security guard accused me of leaving my door opened some night before the incident. I know for a fact that I close all doors and listen for the honk when I lock my doors. I think he was in on it. Why dont they check the "cameras?" Bull****.

Your experience sounded very similar to mine except I did not lose as much as you, but knowing that someone broke into your hard work, is a very awful feeling. Yeah, I was mad/sad after the incident but everything in the end turned out fine and will for you too!

-J Yim

Oh and I pay close to 1k for rent every month. 750 for rent and 165 for parking.

Sorry to hear about what happened. You might not get money for all your aftermarket parts and accesories. Alot of insurance company's won't cover stuff like that unless you have it built into your policy(aftermarket insurance). The company usually wants it documented with them of what you have before the incident happens. Even then sometimes they won't cover it. Hope it works out for you.

Now you can get it acid dipped and save some weight! You're already half way there!!!

J/K

Try to find out exactly how many other tenants this has happened to. If there is more than five or so others speak to a good attorney over the phone and find out if there is any grounds for a class action lawsuit. Many attorneys will take class actions pro-bono or very cheap due to the possibility for high payout. Wouldn't it be nice to sit back and have an attorney fight to get you some money while your insurance company pays you actual cash value for the damage done.

BTW, you will not be able to get back what you lost from what the Ins company pays you.
