^Hell, he may get more money for the stock parts. If anyone steals my Advans you can bet I'm telling the insurance the stock BBS wheels and Advan tires were on there. You know what Mitsu charges for those pieces!

He's probably already read this thread and maybe even posted a comment already. It's not like stealing parts for a neon. Evos aren't exactly common and therefore he's probably stealing them for himself or a friend with the same car.

I'm sure he'll burn in the firey pits of hell though.

You're correct. Some insurance companies won't cover it at all and those that do will often time want an estimated amount for the value of your "custom parts and equipment" (CPE). That way they can charge you up front for the stuff. In many cases you aren't even required to show proof of the CPE until the claim, so always keep receipts and pictures of the installed CPE.

This is just what I was going to say. I bought my car with 4000 miles on it and tried to get the steering wheel fixed because the leather seam at the bottom was splitting. The dealer said they would have to get back to me, because the steering wheel is $1500.
Our BBS probably retail for $1500-$2000 a piece with the Advans.

The insurance company may total it if to many expensive parts are missing. If they total it see if you can buy it from them, and start building with the cash.

To the OP:

Do you pay an extra fee to park in the garage at your apartment? If so, there may be something you can do legally. A parking fee may include the security of your valuables. I know someone that this happened to and he was compensated fully for his losses. He just had to press the establishment with legal action.

insurance will cover the cost of oem parts, and oem parts usually cost more than aftermarket parts, you can use the money toward to aftermarket parts again.
