Ford has announced a way to increase gas mileage by 23% by raising compression ratios and injecting alcohol to prevent knock and this all for a mere $1300 per car. Maybe Ford has been browsing this board and discovered people here using methanol and E85. We should have gotten a patent.

Actually, Ford build this 11 years ago. They were ahead of what we have done here.

And look where they are today. At the head of the line for a Federal Bailout.
Sorry I'm so touchy with the F-word. My GF owns a Mustang and an Explorer, and I work on them more then my Evo.

this technology appears to be alot different than what most of us are running. i don't believe the injection supply needs to be filled all that often. intervals of more than a year if i remember correctly. i think the amount they inject is very small. i get all of the ragging on ford, but i'm sure no one on here is running the kind of compression they're talking about.

I don't know if you guys are aware, but Ford's model T was capable of running on ethanol or gasoline. It's not that the companies are behind on the times.
Also the alcohol injection is retarded, its much better to build a purpose built ethanol engine (high compression) to run straight ethanol, they have proven them to have the same mileage as a same displacement gasoline engine.

^How is that possible? You cant run the same size carb jets on gas and e85.
Ford is probably flirting with direct injection. You can run very low a/f r's and really high compression.

I think you need to see the news again. GM and Chrysler took Fed money. Ford has not.
Ford did they that they will be a bailout if GM or DC does go under because American car confidence would plummet.
All American car companies are dying because they make crappy cars and are behind the power curve. They need to be more innovative else they'll just all fall over and die.
I agree that Domestic cars are crappy but they do make some real nice and powerful cars too. I always like the Vette. I think it's one of the most admire and beautiful car American ever made.
