When you first saw an Evo ___ [fill in the blank], how did it feel?
The film is Who am I. And it was a great chase scene with the evo. I didn't know what it was at the time.
The first time I saw an evo was in the summer of 2003 at the Algonquin resteraunt Bolton's Landing on Lake George, New York. It was yellow, and I didn't know what it was. I was driving a 2002 wrx at the time, and I was jealous of the big intercooler and big brakes. I was disappointed because I new my bargain performance car was now in a distant second place. I had been patient the evo could have been mine. My finances did not permit me to buy a new vehicle until 2006.

...... theres no way to describe how happy it makes me....
i remember back in 03 i was in hong kong for vacation......i was riding on a bus at night and i saw a black evo 7 zoom by......the noise it make.......i said to myself if the evo ever make it to the states.........im getting one in black.......and i got one brand new back in 05.....still driving it......i was thinking about the X ......but is just not the same ...........
I had know about the JDM Evo's for a while and was familiar with them from video games. I had also like the Celica AllTrac/Gt4 and always thought the Rally Car would make for a fun driver, I wanted an Alltrac for the longest time.
I heard about the Evo 8 coming to the US, but after a while kind of forgotten about them. In August 03, I was at a meet and some show up with a new STi. It clicked and reminded me about Evo. Shortly after I went to my local Mitsu dealer and saw new Black 03 Evo in showroom, it was a sharp car and I knew I wanted one. At the time I had 3 sports car/trucks, so I needed to pare my fleet down. I ended getting laid off a couple times and taking lesser paying jobs which significantly affectly my time line.
As for the X, the picture didn't do much for me, I didn't really care for the Audi nose. Recently, I saw a new Octane Blue X at the dealership, I was pleasantly surprised. It was lot better looking than I expected, I could see my self owning one those, but I really like the IX.

First time i saw an Evo I was at a light waiting to make a left and this RR evo comes out from the intersection and passes me going the opposite way and he wasnt going fast but the sound it produced and the looks just amazed me enough to want to buy 1
was on my way to get an STi when I heard there was a black Evo for sale. Decided why not test drive it, never even thought of the STi again. Drove home in the Evo. Coming from the S2000 I thought nothing could be as fun to drive, boy was I wrong.
When first saw an Evo in 2003 I thought damn I want that but no way am I going to afford it. Then when I got to Okinawa in 2006 and saw an Evo 3 for sale on a lot I was like damn Im getting that. But that dealer told me that it was taken already just waiting for down payment. I go and look in the classifieds and see an Evo 2 for sale that was $1000 and take over payments, had like $2700 left on it. So I went and bought that from him. Little did I know that the dude was selling his 2 to buy the 3 at the dealer and he needed the $1000 to put down on the 3... I was like dammit. Anyways about a year later dude with the 3 got kicked off the island and I took the 3 back and I sold my 2 a little while after that. He bought the 3 for $6000 and I bought it from him for about $3500...
First time, I saw an evo it was a yellow V/// at the dealership back in 03 and it had a carbon fiber hood. funny thing is I was car shopping and i wanted it so bad.. but could not afford it. I felt the butterflies the whole time i was there.. i just wanted to take it home..
My dad was going to co-sign with me but some baller beat us to it.. which am glad.. would of ended up with a yellow 03.. ewww... love my Red IX instead.
First I noticed the evo was in 1996 in some racing game in Mexico..lol

I loved both the STi and EVO years before they ever came to the US around 98-ish? I have a trip to Europe and Gran Turismo to thank for my addiction. I'd have a T.M.E. VI and a 22B if I had my way..
well well well, now my turn...
So in 2003 I bought a Lancer OZ Rally, never knew anything about the Evo. In i believe March of 2003 there was news that they were bringing the Evo's to US/Canada(at the time) my brother was going crazy about it, never knew what was soo special, thought it was just a bit of an upgrade of mine. In Summer of 2003, I saw 2 Fast 2 Furious and in that movie they had a Evo 7. I loved everything about it! That week i started researching about these cars, etc. That is how i discovered this site. In 2004 while we were in Vegas, my brother and I went to a dealership to see one in person, omg i loved it!! My favorite color to date was the original blue by you. Now a days the color is soooo washed out cause of the age but back then i have pics of the car brand new and it looks solid!
Later in 2004 when we went to Vegas again I went to a Las Vegas Evo meet and there was a guy who gave me a ride in his black evo 8 with exhaust and intake. At that point i had never seen the power the evo had... no words can describe how amazing that was. I was blown away at this car...BLOWN AWAY!
From that point i wanted one, unfortnatley my biggest obstacle was that since 2003 they had banned 2003-2007 Evo's in Canada. So i was gonna settle for a 05-06 STI. Well thank heavens for my dad. He told me to wait and save more money. At the time i was a little skeptical but i listened to him and on JUNE 25,2008, Canada changed the bumper laws and a 2 weeks later a revised list came out and the 2003-2007 Evo's were lifed from the inadmissable list!!!
Fast Forward... Sept,2008. I constantly post ads on evom.net to find a evo and a gentlemen from Utah steps forward and post how he has a STOCK GG Evo 9 for sale in Utah. I call him, get a inspection done, fly down and BOOM... Terry's 5 year dream comes true and I own a 2006 Evo 9!! I call it my child. There is not a moment i dont think about it! I have made sure I do not half *** any of my parts on that car. Only part im not totally happy with is my coilovers but im fixing that next summer.
*sigh* Done...

The reason why I'm asking this question is because I don't get the same feeling I felt when I saw the X as oppose to my first time seeing the 8, 9.
Somehow, I just don't get that same feeling seeing the X or the new STi on the road. I don't know if it's because Mitsubishi and Subaru tamed them out too much but it's definitely just a regular feeling of seeing a new model but it's not memorable to me.

But I notice it's sexy wide lines etc, so the person who matters finds it super attractive. The old STis, bleh, the growth on the hood was awful. The old and new Evos still make me smile too though when I see them.First time I saw an Evo was back in Junior year of high school, a friend of mine was into DSMs and told me about the Evo coming here soon (this was in 2002-2003). So I went and looked it up and found info about it and the STi, hated the looks of the STi so an Evo it was, marked it as something I wanted and talked about it a lot.
A friend got one of the first ones here in Yellow in late Fall of '03 (ish) and that was the first one I saw in person, fast forward to Spring of '04, Dad sells his condo in SF for double what we paid for it and decides to spring on a new car for me for graduation (since we were racing buddies already, and he wanted the S all to himself out at the track). We went to dinner one night and came out and the vallet handed me these keys to a
that said "Miller" on the tag, I looked around and spotted my baby parked over by an S class Mercedes right by the front door. 13 miles on the clock. Then all the bull **** happened with, the car was noisy, rattly, and falling apart, the TC broke for no apparent reason (never launched the car) blah blah blah, and I hated how ****ty the interior was and got tired of DDing it.... And that's the end of the Evo's story with me and the beginning of the quest for a luxury/sports car.Had they made IXs in '07 so I could've found one a bit newer and fewer miles I probably would've gotten a WW IX. I don't trust Mitsu enough to buy a new car with(out) warranty from them and don't like the looks of the X quite as much as I like the looks of the GR STis.
Ditto (till now), fully based on looks alone is what made me pick the Evo then, and the STi now.
Miss ours' like crazy, as a second car. Like the other person, I couldn't have one here as an only car due to the weather. Someday...
honestly when i first saw the evo i thought it was nice but i ended up buying a 350z. only to trade it in a year and a half later for the evo. never looked back since.mitsu turned me off cuz they wudnt allow anyone to test drive the evo.
