This document explains the NHTSA's process:

This document has an up-to-date list of all car models that NHTSA has approved for importation as street vehicles:

Notice that there is no Mitsubishi Lancer on the list.

I'm baffled about why you would continue to aid and abet Evolution Import's fraud.
I dont see why you keep giving E.I. a bad name, there really is no purpose for you to keep bashing Adam and whoever. The only thing that you are doing is most likely backing up the time frame of when me and some other people are getting our cars.

Instead of giving Adam a bad name, go find somewhere else to talk bad about someone.

I'm not giving Evolution Imports a bad name. They've earned it without my help with their fraudulent marketing. They're importing EVO VIIs under the off-road/competition provisions of EPA and DOT importation rules and regulations and then they sell the cars as "fully US street legal" when they know that it is quite illegal under federal law for anyone to title and register such cars for street use.

A few folks here (WRC4ever and Celm) have promised, in the past, to show us their documentation that demonstrates their US EVO VIIs are legal for street use. So far, nothing, which isn't surprising since no EVO VII is legal for street use in the US. A convincing document would the importer's copy of either DOT's form HS-7 or the EPA's form 3520-1.

It has been months and months since the first time Señior Info posted, and we still have not heard anything from EI. I would tend to beleive these cars will potentially get collected and destroyed or exported....

How would Señior Info be "backing up the time frame" of anything? He is just pointing out that EI has not followed the proper steps to get the cars legal here in the USA.

Who f##k cares if they are or they aren't, its not really an issue for you. Did you buy the car, did you wait for the car to arrive, so I dont see why it would matter, we just want our cars, all you are doing is making E.I. seem wrong and fraudulent.

i am a potential customer...if i was to buy one of the cars i would like to know if i could get a tag and drive it...but if noone is going to do that is fine...but they should not be advertizing the cars as street legal if they r not...that in itself is illegal

But they are wrong and fraudulent and I don't want to see anyone here suckered into buying one of their imports, assuming they can legally title/register the EVO for street use. If, by remote chance, you fancy yourself as the next Rhys Millen and really do want a car for competition that won't be titled/registered, then you should do what evo VII RSII did (see thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...&threadid=7712):
Contact a customs broker certified for a nearby port of entry (see http://www.customs.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/contacts/ports/
Contact an EVO VII seller overseas, such as http://www.xtreme-uk.net/ExportSales.asp
Budget about $1K for shipping from Europe to the US east coast.

I have spoken, myself, with extreme- U.K. (previously ralliart), and asked them SPECIFICALLY about EI. They said they ARE selling to EI as an importer and they ARE street legal here in the states. Now, I'm not God, so I dont know everything, but I cant do better than contact extreme/ralliart, whom we all know of and trust as THE evo experts and had them confirm with me, that EI is legit, and the cars are street legal.

And I got their number over their website completely independently. If, at this point, anyone doubts it, call them yourself.

Extreme UK is a company in the UK and they dont know anything about US import laws. They are happy to sell the cars to E.I. as they make money off each car they sell. E.I. are the ones who tell them that the cars are street-legal and Extreme UK has no reason to believe otherwise as they dont know anything.

If you really want to find out if the cars are street-legal, contact the US DOT and NHTSA. They are the ultimate authority on legalizing imported cars. www.nhtsa.gov

Hmm, the other guy WRC4ever or something like that, said in the other thread that the cars are still being "legalized". That has been going on for the past two years.
It really is weird that people are driving the Evo7s around when the cars are still getting legalised. Isnt this illegal?
I dont know much about import laws, so maybe it could be legal.

I am not driving my car around. I have been racing it until it's fully 100% legal, which is finally coming very shortly. And I have bought my car less than 2 years ago, I wonder where you got that 2 years statement. Amazing how the same people on this board are always doubtful about everything concerning importation. You will have hard proof evidence very soon and you will all finally shut up.

Heh heh. Hey Karl, I for one believe you that they will be legalized and understand why everyone wants to be low key about it. Maybe you can challange Senor Info to a race...oh wait, you'd win

Erik in LA

Hmmm, used j-spec Evo 7 or new U.S Evo 8? What's a guy supposed to do?

atlvalet, Senior Info isn't worth my time, race or no race.
95% of his posts are legalization related, all on paper or whatnots. If he wants to keep on reading his US law books and NHTSA / DOT websites, let him be. Instead, I will be enjoying my car fully both on the road and at the races.

How can I steer u into buying a 7 ?

Umm, I think Senior Infos posts are very truthful. As cars go through the US's legalization process, there is a publically viewable paper trail. And as Senior Info has pointed out, the paper trail for the legalization of the EI Evo's is a very faint one.

Slight of hand tricks may get the cars into the country and onto the streets. But if and when the paperwork gets denied at the Government level, the cars DO get collected.

I think some of the very angry views in this thread may be due to the fact that some people, who have ordered EI cars, may be feeling that their money is slipping down a black hole......And they are mad about it. And rightfully so. They are not standing on steady ground. They may never get their cars and they may never see their $40k again.

Define "shortly". ahahaha... They have been feeding you guys that same line for about 9 months now. Having you admit your car is not legal is at least proof that Senior Info knows what is going on.

It is damn ****ty of EI to be selling stuff that is not legal, won't be legal for some time and having ZERO $$$ invested in the project!

At least Motorex spent their own $ to get the cars legal, then starting selling.
