Evolution Imports [Super Mega Merge]
by the way, the reason I asked... Bill Reilly (of Reilly and Scott) tried to sell a EVO V that was titled in the state of Indiana as a Kit Car (totally illegal). He wanted $45k. I was high bidder on ebay at about $29k.

ps. please, don't take me wrong here. I would love to see all of those IE cars to have a licence plate, which would mean more options to the rest of us...

Maybe is not legal, I dont really care....IT IS registered to be drivin on the street as a Lancer and thats all I am worried about. Take it for what its worth...
I think some states are quite lenient about stuff like that. Florida is one of them as there were several Evos registered in FL and sold to people. Maybe EI knows of a loophole in the law to register the cars.
Personally, I wouldnt take a chance if it is not legal according to NHTSA because if they decide to enforce it, they can confiscate the car and do bad things to it. The car's owner has no recourse too, from some horror stories i have heard.

Ouch.... glad that you do get to enjoy it, but jesus that is risky. I cannot believe EI is even in business if they are registering the Evo VII's as "lancers".
I imagine they would just close ship when everyone starts to sue them.
Welp, enjoy it while you can.

It is registered as a Mitsu Lancer. Nothing else. The insurance is marked as a modified Lancer and yes, they all pics and details of the car. So, I am not covering anything from anyone.

But seriously, so if you were to wreck your car or it would get stolen, your agent would just flip his NADA guide over to 2002 Lancer OZ rally and say, "Okay, here's your check for 11,000 grand. (About average book for a high end Lancer)" Yikes. I envy you. I could not afford such a risk. I bet it is a blast to drive, but I for one would be too scared to drive it.

I read, it may now have changed since this when they first came out, but the MotorRex Skylines are insureded as modified 240sx's. Sounds like the same deal.
