It only makes said honking sound while the RPM's are up? Have you tried narrowing down where the sound is coming from? Have a friend hold the RPM's up while you snoop around... As was said, a sound clip would help but you can narrow it down by letting us know where about this sound is coming from.

no its not the horn. it sounds like a rubbing noise but its not a squealling. so my question is what do the air and the engine have that work together that move. remeber it onlt happens when the air is on

i don't the engine has anything to do with the air being on, but when you switch your ac switch on, the engine does have to run the ac compressor....

what it sounds like to me is either your A/C compressor is taking a poop (can't say **** on this forum)... or the vent fan is rubbing the housing when it blows the air inside the car.

But if it it gets louder when the RPM's are raised..... then I am willing to bet your compressor bearings are going bad... if not already bad.

if it was the ac compressor wouldn't do it when ever the engine was running. if it was the blower an rubbin on the housing why would it almost kill my engine

Could be the ac compressor CLUTCH, when it trys to engage it cant fully engage so its slipping making the honk sound idk just a shot check the bearings also

If its a bearing failure on the accessory belt say like... water pump, AC, power steering, etc. It would make a horrible brake like howling noises and then cause massive power loss including idle going way down. If by chance the bearing problem was intermittent its possible it would only occur at higher rpm especially things with a journal bearing.

As a note it is really hard to say based on your comments of a honking noise but the noises i envision are best diagnosed with a mechanics stethoscope to determine their point of origin.

Good luck hope its a simple fix.
