Ugh...hit a raised manhole cover. Pics inside.

*UPDATED*

Road construction and it was raining out. My instinct was to put it down the middle of the car instead of swerving to miss it and of course it makes solid contact with my Perrin lower arm bar and basically cracked it in half while tearing out the mount points on the Crossbrace (the brace with the motor mount) and the passenger side mount point right below the lower control arm. Not to mention after cracking, the arm bar smacked the downpipe and but a nice little dent in it.

First, I was wondering if Evo VIII and IX crossbraces are all the same? Second, a good place to get that crossbrace with out paying dealership price? Looks like I'm going to have to have the mount point on the subframe removed and re-welded and then of course replace the lower arm bar. I'm not too worried about the downpipe. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Update: In the 4th pic of the mount point below the control arm you can see that it is bent so bad the the subframe actually bent in a little and now rubs against the pivot point for the control arm. Anyone know if this can reliably be heated up and bent back a bit (not the mount point but the subframe)? Otherwise I'm replacing the subframe too.

yes the crossmembers are the same but you can easily find them here all the time instead of getting nailed by the stealership

Good call, I just checked out the one they offer but I'm not sure if it allows you to mount up another 3 point lower arm bar. Maybe a 2 point one however. Undertray isn't an issue as I've pulled this out and looking to replace it with an aftermarket at some point.

Looks like in a few more years the rust under your car is gonna eat a hole in your floor board.

I can thank the NJ winters for that. Plenty of road salt and such. Besides, that rust is on the cross brace and the subframe, not the floorboards.

Could you follow this up with the county you live in? If it wasn't replaced properly or controlled/monitored by the workers that ride by it daily I would imagine you could be somehow comped for it

It was in Somerset County and I do plan on contacting the town tomorrow as there were no signs for raised manhole covers or other warning. Coincidentally enough, right before I struck the one that did the damage I had passed over another one a few hundred feet before that was not raised at all. The one I hit happened to be on the crest of a hill and at night, in the rain, was difficult to see and judge until i was on top of it. Hopefully I can get them to cover the repair costs.
