Hopefully it's more expensive and includes all the features of the new MR model, but without the Super AYC and 6 speed - stick with the competition model 5 speed tranny.

Also Mitsu should plan on Subaru countering with a true Spec C - including all suspension bits, steering rack, and maybe even a roof vent.

If it's offered in that dark gray color I might have to buy it solely because of that

If Mitsubishi was smart, they would put a lot of misinformation out there to get Subaru thinking. Of course maybe they're too busy trying to figure out what movie they can tie the RS model to...

hopefully, if there is going to be a "better" version - the parts are interchangable and warranty backed... (meh, warranty)

They could save a good chunk of the car just by eliminating the warranty. They could drop $4000 off the car, dropping it to $24,000, and lose all the power stuff, A/C, radio, rear interior, everything in the trunk, lots of wiring.

I don't think it would account for more than 2% of thier sales though, that's what about 60 cars? Rally Teams would love this. Is that really enough to make it worth certifying over here? Not financially, but if they are trying to imporve their image and get more Evo's out racing and in the eyes of people, that's good free advertising.

I would probably be hunted down and killed if I spilled the beans but let's just say that it won't be a big departure from what is currently available. That is, I don't believe any current EVO owner is going to regret not having waited for the RS. But when you guys see the RS, I think it will prove to everything that Mitsubishi is serious about continuing the evolution process with the US EVO. The unique parts that will come standard on the RS can easily retrofitted to the current EVO. So don't sweat it. Just sit back and enjoy

Cheers,
shiv

Shiv, is this something we'll see on the regular February release schedule or did you not ask when it's coming out? Also if it will offer any other colors aside from the current six in the USDM Evo8.

I'd really like to see 300hp stock, some interior feature changes/upgrades, and some new color choices. That's about all I'd need to keep me waiting for this RS edition.

As long as it's no LESS featured than the current Evo and it has some of the issues fixed the current Evo has, it's worth waiting for.

So do you think it'd be worth waiting for as someone (me) who currently doesn't own an Evo?

Uh you can't "rally" a stock Evo8 USDM either. But you could RAPE an autocross course with a stock Elise.

I would love a RS here, but I will believe it when I see it. I am thinking we will be lucky to even have a Evo/STi after 2004. These car makers would rather focus on their bread and butter models like SUVs.

Again, I would love a RS, but I seriously doubt it will happen.

I would love to try that but i'm guessing the Elise will probably be bump away from superstock. ASP perhaps?

But rally teams can get an LHD Evo RS already, I dont see what the difference is in offering one to sell in the US, since your removing alot of the safety features of the current Evo, by cheapening up a car to get the price lower, now its going to be even more easier to obtain a really fast car for teenages to get themselves killed in.

I personally think they just need to make the Evolution we have now up to GSR spec.
