The Evo is more of a pure drivers car. It isn't weighed down with near as many gimics as the M3. +1 for the Evo.

I'd go with what you want it shouldn't matter what others think. If the Evo does it for you then get another one and get rid of that bland overpriced beemer

I'm in a similar predicament. Always had the chance to buy an Evo since 03...passed it up then and every year after. Mostly from my design co-workers constantly saying "its such a boy car...why do you want to be that guy..."

So I bought a new G35 coupe instead in 06...and have had it for 4 years. (obviously not quite an M3 ) Recently I've test driven a few Evo's and realized "I don't give an eff what people think, driving this car is awesome!"

Needless to say I realized what I was missing out on...and shouldn't have cared in the beginning what people thought. They weren't gonna drive the car...I was. FWIW I'm 30...

Gawd this is too fricken funnee. A "30 something" having a PRE mid life crises.

I'm 55 and I love the dirty looks. I tried "growing up" once, it sucked. I've always told my friends that driving the Evo PROVES I'm not trying to derive my identity from my car.

I drive the Evo because it excites the hell out of me.

The only thing I regret are the years I spent trying to please other people.

Drive the car for what THE CAR IS, not for what you think it makes you look like in someone else's eyes - That's what Mustangs are for. (lol) jk

Good Luck in any event.

Well your not crazy to want to switch. You should do whatever feels right. Both cars are awesome in their own class. I love the luxury and classy feel of the m3 and m5, but I also love the performance of the evo.

two different types of car IMO .. if you want performance, go with the evo. if you want luxury, stay with the M3. i'd take the evo any day of the week.
