M3 back to Evo IX? Am I crazy?!
Because, folks who are not car people equate automobiles with one of two things - transportation and/or a fashion accessory. I'm 46 on my second Evo that was purchased as a keeper. To be perfectly honest, pleasing others with my automotive decisions has never been a consideration. I'm a lifelong car guy. Whether anyone else approves is of no consequence. Buying a car that's supposed to reflect my position in life in someone else's eyes is beyond ridiculous.

Sounds like you're in love with the Evo ix and not the M3. Just get back in the Evo game and forget what everyone else thinks of it. It only matters to you, so sell that M3 and get your Evo.
I had two M3s prior to my EVO IX, as well as two 350Zs (03, and 04), and I completely understand what you mean by the feeling that the EVO IX was made for you. Simply put, out of the box, nothing at all compares to feeling you get driving an EVO, for me, it's as if getting into the car is more like putting on the perfect fitting gloves, or a best set of running shoes you've ever wore; there is always that one special thing that just seems to have been made with you in mind. The only other car I would compare to the EVO is its rawness and desire to please its user, is the C6 Vette. Whether a Z06 like I have, or the Base, or ZR1, each is pretty good in giving you a big smile while driving.

You're not crazy at ALL! You don't have to answer to anyone if you are making the payments! There is just something about an Evo...Yes, those over-priced Austrian cars are something alright...Bring that baby in for service at a Dealership, you'll see!
Anyways, I hope you end up where you belong...In an EVOH!

I'm a previous e46 owner Ive owned two of them with the last being an m3 with some goodies and I tracked it I haven't gotten a chance to track my IX yet but I did go on a very spirited cruise. they're both fantastic cars. As others have already said do what makes you happy you can't lose either way unless you keep those rims on it.
Very good points on all the above, i guess the biggest thing with me is the respect you get in this M3. Considering all, it feels good. Again being in my mid 30's, i got the impression or feeling, whether valid or not, that i was being looked at and judged a certain way when in the Evo.
Here are a few questions---Do you really think that you get more "respect" by driving an M3? Do you really care what others think? Do you really think that letting others on a forum decide what car you should drive will change you in some significant way so others will respect you more, "Judge "you in a better light?
Your in your 30's, have a few dollars, not married and therefore have far fewer responsibilities--and thats all good. Get good with yourself and the rest will fall in place and you wont be so worried about what others think of you and the car you drive. What others think doesn't contribute in any signifact way to your life.
Do what you want because you want to, not because others say you should-- its part of getting older.
Not picking on you --just observing.
I love M3's so much. After I was in my accident with my first Evo, I was in the market for an M3. But here I am, with another Evo.
I feel the same way about the M3 as I do s2000's (I was looking at buying an s2000 too.) They're REALLY fun cars. Cars I'd love to someday own, but I can't see myself with one as my primary car.
Somebody on this forum said something like this, not a direct quote: s2000's are like the hot blonde at the bar. Great for a crazy, wild, fun night out. A lot of excitment, and fun to experience on occasion. But the Evo is like you wife. You're in love with it. You'll always come home to it because it's what makes to truely happy (even though it can be a bit needy
).
Although I think that certainly pertains to s2000's a bit more, because M3's are much easier to live with. I know s2000's have nothing to do with this thread, I'm just using it as an example.
I've driven alot of cars. Some faster than my Evo, and cars that may even handle a bit better. But I've never driven a car that makes me as happy. Now I've never driven anything exotic. I'm sure someting like a F430 Scuderia would make me just as happy, probably happier than an Evo, haha... but you get the point
Point is, do what makes you happy.
