I would take a 335 over an E46 M3 anytime. The E46 is nice but comes max out from the factory. You need some real money to make it faster. When I had mine a set of headers were like $2K and give about 10 to 15 hp if lucky after some ECU Mods.

Well, i can honestly say, i got WAAAAY more feedback than i ever thought i would, and i am thankful for everyones posts and comments. You guys are true driving enthusiast and have been very respectful, one of the reasons i never left this site in spite of trading my IX for a Bimmer. You guys drove home a good point about driving for me and not for the masses, the Evo just makes me feel alive everytime i turn the key, and that feeling i want back! So here i go...... EvoM, I am now in the market for a 06' TB IX SE!!! Boy, this is gonna be interesting. Hopefully i can still find a stock IX with low miles... Let me know if any of you know someone looking for a great 06' M3 Silver/Gray 6MT with 34k miles in excellent condition. Thanks everyone for helping me to see the light, i wish i could respond to everyones post but i think then this thread would go on forever, so again, many thanks! 4life!!! One love.

I dont drive either :/

Unfortunate for me I'm at 21 years old and been wanting an Evo since 05. But along those lines I did want to consider an M series.

Might be farfetched but IF you cant decide, buckle down and keep both?

If one this is for sure is that you only live one time. And dreams are alive until you put them to sleep.

One day I'll have the cars I want waiting for me when I get home.

2 hardcore cars like so might be excessive but who's driving and getting the excitement from them?

If its worth it, then do it.

I get that feeling all the time...I'm 32 and am like is this a boy racer car??

Everytime I drive something else including my mothers 05 M3 with that auto trans..smg or wtvr its ...driven a c5 vette...c6...

I get back in my car hit boost once and am like **** that I cant drive those cars...

I'm 43, and agree with ya all. The experience of the Evo is something that no other car can deliver. "Sunday driving" yesterday with the leaves off the trees and nice visibility around corners had my drive to the store 1/2 hour away, the long way, take just under 1/2 hour that ought to have taken me 45 minutes, best case. Boy racer? Who cares. That I can drive with the most modified BMW's and hold my own with light mods means its fast.

That you have to have two hands on the wheel means that it's NOT a luxury "drives itself car". I guess this is why folks who love Evo's are unique too.

I got the opp to "race" the new M3 with the V8 with MY EVO (x GSR), and my instructor was pleased as punch that I lapped him, never let him get by me at all, not in two days. The M3 appeared to struggle around corners that the X's awd pulled it through smoothly, and that was what counts. Not top end or acceleration, but glue to the road kind of confidence that you're not going to get for $55,000 in a new M3.

While the 'boy racer' image might be a detractor for your fan base as a car owner, any fans in your base for your DRIVING a car know for certain that the Evo cannot be beat for it's integration with the human driver. If you wanted a Bimmer that compared well to an Evo, might as well get a BMW track car, mod the heck out of it and lighten the load. Then you'd have a real quandry, deciding stock Evo vs track-tuned M3.

i wouldn't jump to those conclusions without driving the new m3.. it is one of the most well balanced cars i've ever driven - different drivers paint completely different stories, and any 4wd car is far easier to drive than a rwd car for sure.. you can pin the gas way quicker, while rwd requires finesse with the throttle and much more experience.

i did a lot of thinking too, almost traded in the evo for the e92 at one point, i was so impressed with it's overall capabilities and refinement.. however i decided i loved my evo too much and that i'd just wait for the day to buy the m3 without selling the evo!

Ask yourself this one, very important question...Who is going to pay for the car? Not your friends...not your girlfriend...YOU. You should get what YOU want. That is exactly why I traded in this...

for this...

My girlfriend & ALL of my female friends still cannot understand why I traded in a Corvette for a "Lancer". But I know why.

Well the Z06 "looks nice" but we all know that your lancer would kick the crap out of it, unless the Vette was highly modified of course

You can tell your female friends the quote below and get their response, lol.

rd122481, so why did you trade in the corvette? why not trade in the corvette for a newer corvette? the newer ones are fast and handle just as good as evo, like the Z06

^ The new Z is like 70k maybe? You could make an evo damn quick with 20k + 50k in mods
