I've read each and every post, My sister owns an M3 and I work for Showdown motorsports where we deal in nothing but DSM and EVO's. I said get the best of both worlds like a few people look for a non-modified X with low miles. But if everyone listened when I gave my 2cents I'd be a rich man.......

THe M3 and the evo are very different. If you like both....... the reality is you should have both. I have an evo and a E39 540i with performance suspension on 18s. The BMW feels like putting on an Armani suit while the evo feels like street ware.

Sometimes you feel like driving fast refined german engineering and sometimes you feel like smashing on the car (evo) and everyone else around you. I am not sure how to get both in one car at this point other than to buy the new M6 or M5 - or the new v8 M3. the Audi RS4 is interesting as well. But an evo is not that expensive so having both is not difficult. Garage space however is another question all together.....

Get an EVO X. it won't look as childish as the EVO IX, and it's just as badass, if not more so. I think about getting a BMW for my next car sometimes because i'm 30, make a lot of money, and people give me funny looks too when they see the EVO, but the hell with them. when i'm behind the wheel, none of that matters. i'm keeping the IX MR forever, and my next car will most likely be an EVO X MR. they are just too much fun to drive, and too good on the track to go for a BMW just to say, "look at me *****es, i drive a BMW."

also, i'm not single, i've got a fiance and she LOVES the EVO as much or more than I do. I bought her an Acura TSX earlier this year, so if we need to go somewhere and look somewhat grown up, we take it lol

my whole adult life I've wanted an M3, that's why I went to college, was to make enough money to get an M3...then last year during my senior year of college I got my EVO...and a few months later my friend's mom got an E46, and we took it out one night, and I knew...that the EVO is actually what I wanted more than the M3.

I'm only 24, but still, the EVO will never leave me. I'm currently living with 5 roomates in Brooklyn so that I can afford to keep my car.

I almost sell my evo like every 2 months for a laguna seca blue E46 m3. I just cant do it. I know if i do my modding days are over just based on the fact that it cost RIDICULOUS amounts of money to buy any performance parts for them. Also the upkeep and if something breaks...ohhhh dont even like to think about it.. I do stare on e46fanatics.com at all the gorgeous car though. Some of them take my breath away!!! Still its the evo for me.

I just went from an E36 M3 to an Evo VIII. Both had their pro's and con's, but I'm content in my choice now with the Evo.

However, if given the choice between the Evo and a 335xi, I would jump ship in a heart beat.

Get a 135i instead, and boost the bejesus out of it. Can't go wrong with the 996 TT either...The newer M3's are just far too heavy and lacking of real power for real sports car performance (imho)
