love the c5 vette. i prefer evo for this ****ty weather in chicago, buy what fits you, not what people will tell you :>d or what they think. (again this is bad place to ask which one is better since this is evo forum.

Normally I think we'd all agree, however, you may want to look at a low mileage IX SE. The OP stated that this is what he's looking for. In comparison, the M3 has and will continue to hold value, but not as much as the IX, especially a low miles SE. IXs have held their value extremely well IMO. I think others would agree as well. Those are stats, based on autotrader values that I've looked up recently , in conjuction with kbb.

My personal oppinon of reasoning is this. Right now, again IMO, the e92 M3 is a better all around car than the e46 (Sorry, if I've messed up the numbers). The evo IX is the best evo made to date (IMO). Therefore supply and demand are going to factor into held value. Ergo, new M3s will sell and drive down the costs of used M3s a smidge, vs. the Xs not selling that much and the IXs are staying the same/ going up in value. Reason is cars like the evo, and the M, have a good audience of repeat buyers. Id be more than willing to bet that there are going to be more repeat M buyers than IX --> X buyers.

In all seriousness, there was a thread on here a little while back that talked about the crazy held value of the IXs. I can attest to that as I have sold my once brand new IX MR SE and bought a used IX GSR within the last 9 monthes.

On topic, I had this debate a hundred times over with myself. and believe me I live in MD. So on a couple times in summer, yea I probably would like to have had an M. But, summer doesn't last here forever and I found/ have always found the Evo to be both practical and amazingly fun to drive every single day that I am able to drive it. I think you (OP) will be happy switching back to the Evo in the end. My IX MR that I sold was a TB SE. Good choice. I had to sell to buy my house. Saved up all of my money over a short period, and bought another Evo.

I'm actually looking at an E46 M3 or an Audi S4. The reason why I want one of these car is because I want the luxury that comes with it. I want something that has speed and comfort, but minus all of those attention getting from the cops.

I know the Evo can beet those other cars anytime and anywhere, but to me, the Evo kind of have a boy racer image and it's attracting all of the wrong attention.

Love both of them. Both are sweet cars. Like the B5 S4 the most. But The newer S4 especially the RS4 are also awesome rides.

Dont want attention....

Get a 2004-2006 GTO and then....

add an APS Twin Turbo kit.

You get luxury, speed, quiet, etc.

Hey, i am looking at getting around mid 30's for the car. It is in excellent condition minus some paint chips up front and the front rims my BMW dealer scratched in balancing the tires. (They are paying to have them taken care of). The car has 34k miles, 6MT, Nav, Cold Pkg, Premium Pkg (Bluetooth) etc... No accidents or paint work. All records are available at any BMW dealership. Still under factory warranty and maintenance plan that is extendable to 100k. I am the second owner with the first being a Cali driver who moved to the east coast. Let me know if anyone has an interest or any questions. Thanks

Yeah, its all about the B5 (00-02) Audi S4. AWD, twin turbo and best of all, SUPER LOW KEY, especially if you leave it stock appearing (like mine). Also a stg. 3 B5 S4 is rather fast, about mid 12's or faster.

Sry for my babling, I just love the B5 S4 as a daily diver.

The Corvette had N2O...It moved. The only thing was I didn't like having to go get the bottle & drag radials everytime I wanted to have fun. I don't have that problem in the Evo. I definitely won't have that problem once I get the time to install these...

Shearer Fabrications T3...

Along with the HTA3582...

What Corvette?

Must be tough DDing an S4 only to take it home and get in your Evo. I almost bought one a few years back.

I say the evo. m3's are cool and everything, but what you said is true. you already have a connection with the evos and they give you a delivery that no other car can....not even the m3. if you're not feeling it with the BMW then choose the evo cause you'll be happier in the end without regret. i'd take the evo over m3 anytime because i have the same feeling with them good luck

I'd have to drive an M3 to make a decision. I do like luxury/speed/comfort though. It'd be a tough choice.
Well, I have to go with AWD

People go through different phases.

While going through these phases you eventually find out what you really like.

An evo give everything you could want as far as performance and has great potential, but its a little rough.

An M3 Gives great stock performance and is smooth and a little easier on the eyes.

People eventually settle into what they like. So if the evo is where you want to settle, get it.

I also have driven both for a long periods of time. I just happen to prefer my evo.
